Hi Ann No. If memory serves correctly, Market Street, Hove was just on the Hove side of the former Brighton & Hove boundary, to the south of and parallel with Western Road. Possibly it started out as mews serving the back of the houses in Western Road, before they became shops. In the 1960s there was a garage servicing cars & a model railway shop (Bradshaws who moved there from the Lanes in Brighton when Martins Bank Chambers was built.) Unfortunately I have no idea what has happened to the area since leaving Brighton in 1976. Market Street, Brighton is in the old centre of Brighton running from North Street/Castle Square south past the Town Hall to Kings Road on the seafront. The southern end by the Town Hall, is now pedestrianised. In 1843 it was the home of many fishermen but no more. The area, though still lively, is occupied by cafes, businesses & offices. Hope this helps.
