Hi Honiss research The only one I can find on the IGI is born/chr 1802 Rye parents Wm & Mary BUT they are only 8 miles apart. I put in Edward + Hon* + Sussex and nothing of value came up....1851 and zilch 1841 But I followed up one that was Bonnes - easy mistranscription of Honiss I thought and it read as Barnes......so Ancestry has it's down side. Bear in mind the Honnis, the mistrans etc hence searching for Honiss under Hon* also just Edward 1802 +- five years + Sussex, hence the Bonnis. I have two suggestions...... My first thought was to get the original parish registers from Holy Trinity Hastings, but nothing comes up on the LDS library catalogue for Holy Trinity Hastings. But a google search reveals that the Holy Trinity Hastings comes under the Diocese of Chichester. Someone in the Uk may have an answer here. My only other suggestion and a very cost effective one from experience is to join the family history group for Sussex. They have been a boon to me A member can access the MI's (marriage indexes) the monumental inscriptions, etc etc quarterly mag, contact others with the same name that are members...well worth the fee.
