Sorry. A little off-list. But anyone who has been having research problems with the State Library of Victoria, Oz, please contact me OFF-LIST. Some recent problems are that many overseas (or even some home-grown) students have been taking almost complete control of the writing desks so that serious gen researchers have nowhere to go and like me sometimes give up and go home, fed up with it; also darn slow downloading of Ancestry.com census images 14-20 minutes not unknown though normal 4-6 minutes download time, and the horrendous sqwarking, squealing of the chairs on the marble floor, all of which has been going on since the year 2004 without any closure, all items of which were given promise (absolute promise) to me by a SLV executive person in April 2007 that this would be fixed. Ahah, ahah, ahah. Not really. Little, if anything, has been fixed. Love to hear your comments. I am at present considering presentation of these long-standing problems to the Victorian State Parliament. And am also proposing the sacking of the CEO or her willing retirement. The SLV Board of Management just does not seem to be listening. Not a\t all, in any way, shape or form. Though they certainly give support to lots of PS. And I might add, a number of the SLV Librarians who do all the ground work agree with me! Work that out! Graham Graham Melbourne Oz
