Thank you, Tess, for the marriage of Thomas Sturt and Mary Stanford on 10 Feb 1808 in Slinfold. I know this is the right one because of of their sons was Harry Stanford Sturt. But as always our ancestors dont make it easy for us. If they married in 1808 why was their daughter Mary Sturt baptised on 4 July 1802 in Slinfold (from IGI). Is it possible Thomas was married before to another Mary who died? Hi Ros - That's the only Mary I could find around the right date. I have learned that the IGI is not always that accurate. I noticed the name because I have an Edward HAWKINS from Stopham in my tree who married Elizabeth STURT in 1737.
