Hi, Can somebody help, please. I have two THOMAS STURTs. One was born about 1770 in Billingshurst (as shown on 1851 census) and believe he could be the son of Edward and Rachel Sturt. I cannot find a marriage for Edward and Rachel. Thomas married Elizabeth Field in 1795 in Rudgwick. The other Thomas was born about 1779 in Rotherfield (1851 census) and married Mary ? No marriage found for them. Both these Thomas's settled and had families in either Rudgwick or Slinfold. There are also connections to Billingshurst and Horsham. I think they are related because their childrens names are very similar, but need to find their parents and possibly grandparents to prove it. I have found on A2A a disturbing reference to a John Sturt of Billingshurst in 1721 and the Horsham Baptist Chapel. So could they have been Baptists? Any help would be appreciated. Ros in Essex.
