I am a new listee and have been trying to trace back the parents of my gr gr grandmother, Mary Martha Weston, born 23 Feb 1818 in Burwash, SX but moved to the USA with her family. Her parents were Richard Weston born 1797 (Richard and family appear in the 1850 census for Cleveland Ohio and Richard's age is stated as 53) who married Martha Westover 4 Apr 1817 in Burwash, SX. They had nine children: Mary Martha b) 23 Feb 1818 in Burwash Elizabeth Sarah b) Dec 1819 in ???, SX Leatitia b) 21 Jan 1822 in Burwash Stringer John b) abt 1824 in Burwash Thomas Westover b) 19 Dec 1828 in Bermandsay Jane Ann b) 24 Jun 1831 in Brightling Lydia A. b) 21 Sep 1833 in ??? (date from family records) Matilda b) abt 1835 in New York City, USA (from census records) Henry H. b) abt 1839 in New York City, USA (from census records) They must have immigrated to the US between Lydia's birth in 1833 in England and Matilda's birth in NYC in 1835. The only one of the children who apparently did not immigrate with the family appears to be Stringer John who does not appear on any records that I can find in the US (he does not appear on any census records) - perhaps he died before the family left England. I have been looking for Richard's birth records and am searching for his parents. The family appear to have been non-conformists - Presbyterian - so perhaps that is why the COE records do not contain any reference. I have found good records for my gr gr gr grandmother Martha Westover and her family but have not been able to find any trace of Richard's birth or family. Can anyone help me find Richard's family?
