Here is the 1881 Census information: 1881 Census - Fielding Road, Groombridge, Sussex RG11/1056 Folio 24 Joseph Stenson, Head, Widr, 72, Retired Engineer, West Hallam Emily Birt, Servant Wid, 44, Hosekeeper, Lenifison Bucks Frank Stenson, Son, 4, Leeds (one of the evils flesh is heir to) Joseph died 29 Oct 1882 at Groombridge. This is shown in the Probate Index: England & Wales, National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations),1861-1941 Name: Joseph Stenson Probate Date: 9 Dec 1882 Death Date: 29 Oct 1882 Death Place: Groombridge, Sussex, England Registry: Principal Registry Notes: To Spenser Hall Stenson, son Effects: £3,705 9 s 2d As you can see, Joseph was not without money, having been an Ironmaster at Northampton. Basically I have two requests. 1. Would SKS please check the local newspaper archives to see if there a write up about his death? 2. Would SKS please check for a burial record or headstone for me?
