Hi, on Saturday August 13th to Sunday August 14th 10am-4pm Wittering Local History Group will be holding a "Bygone Wittering" exhibition in photos and words recording the changes to our village. To be held at the Wittering Medical Centre in the conference room ( admission by rear door) free entry. I would be interested to hear from anyone who may have some hidden gems! Inscriptions inside the Goudhurst Church 525. (538) Glass shield in third window from west of north aisle – it is modern Armorial drawing (Newington), 532. (505) Culpeper tomb with effigies in south aisle to Sir Alexander Culpeper and Dame Constance his wife. I descend directly from these families - HARDRESHALL / BRENCHLEY / BAYHALL / GAINSFORD / BEDGEBURY and NEWINGTON Sir Alexander CULPEPER and his first wife Agnes DAVY d/o Roger DAVY of Northfleet Kent Their daughter- Alyce CULPEPER of Bedgebury m/d Sir Adam NEWINGTON in 1481??
