I am doing an article for the next West Sussex Archive Society (WSAS) Journal upon the subject of identifying the victims of the Worthing typhoid epidemic of 1893. One of the victims was the Rev. Joseph LANCASTER, the first vicar of Holy Trinity, Worthing and I am trying to trace a descendant of him. Rev. LANCASTER married Eliza Mary PEARSON and had one child, Victor Pearson LANCASTER who married Ann Esther Alice Hilda MILLS in 1910 and both are now deceased. Now, I haven't been able to find any children of the couple, but I am told that either a descendant or a more distant relative does indeed exist and may be living in the Findon area. If anyone can help, please contact me. Best wishes, Marion Woolgar Bognor Regis, West Sussex
Hallo, Maybe I am teaching my grandmother to suck eggs - but I have just done a brief search on a commercial site: Victor Pearson was born Suffolk (Lowestoft) 3Q 1883, married 3Q 1910 East Preston at 1901 census was ??? engineer (great thick line across first word/s) 1911 census mill engineer fitter with wife - no children - married under one year I tried for Lancaster/Mills births - there are 5 pages for early 1911 and foreign births, but 2 genuine Lancaster Mills births in 1917 - I have no idea if either is right. But during the war, he could have worked anywhere and his wife might have gone with him - or to family or friends. Here goes Ernest R born Chorlton (Manchester) 4Q 1917 Violet A born 1Q 1917 Greenwich. I doubt that both could be theirs - though it is just possible if the first were a delayed registration. Then of course they could have had children abroad.... VPL died in Worthing in 1964 4Q aged 81.
