Hello. One of the records found for me was a baptism for Caroline WEST, June 1853. She appears in the 1861C age 8, with parents and siblings. The parents for all children are shown as Peter WEST and Maria. But still no definite record for her birth in National Records to tie in with that. There is the fact that Peter and Maria CHIPPER were married in Dec 1852 and Caroline was baptised June 1853. There are bmd records for many WEST families in Brighton District. Some of these are for those at Keymer. There is a Henry WEST and another "Maria" in Keymer with a family. An "odd-bod" is a Caroline WEST birth Sep qtr 1851 ref Brighton 7 295. She could have a sister Hannah Maria WEST born June 1847. Ref 7 295. She can't be the child of Henry and Maria in Keymer 'cos they had William Henry WEST born Dec qtr 1851. Is there SKS who has found another Caroline WEST in the 1861C, aged 8/9, not in Tarring but probably in Sussex, I'd love to know where she is, please. Or should I just assume her birth was not registered - it happened. If only there hadn't been that family story of some connection with the SACKVILLE-WESTS! Thanks for reading. Joan.
