I have just found a cousin I knew very little about through the internet and I would dearly love to get further back in my Northeast surname search. I have recently been down to Brighton where I was born and went to seek out my Grandparents old Tavern in the Lanes where I lived from 1932 till 1935. The Model House Tavern, Meeting House Lane. It is now a lovely antique shop and the lady proprietess was very interested in its history and said she would try and look it up now. So when I returned I did the same and found an old Pubs site in which it was mentioned and my cousin had contributed a little bit. I contacted the website owner and asked for my details to be passed on to him and we have been catching up on the past. He is 75 and I am 78. My parents parted when I was a baby so I never really knew him. Its great. I have done loads of research and have a vast family tree but the Northeast line stops at 1737 in Chichester and I cant get back further. Jeremiah Northeast married in 1737 and died in 1763 and I have 5 children on the tree. I have a feeling they didnt get out of Sussex much but am curious as to where the name originated. I am tempted to join Ancestry again and wonder if this is the best option. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. sincerely Eileen (nee Northeast) http://www.epfranchi.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/page1.htm
