    1. Re: [SXP] Hill
    2. Heather, I replied to your earlier query regarding this but in that communication you did not mention a year of death. If he died in Brighton after the 1850's, he is most probably buried in the extra-mural cemetery, now known as Woodvale, in the Lewes Road. If this is the case, there are no web sites, CD indexes or other freely available lists that give details of burials there. However, the council do hold the records of the burials in all the corporation cemeteries and if you contact them, they may be able to provide you with the information you require. They are generally very helpful, but there may be a cost involved with any searches you request. If you enquire at woodvale@brighton-hove.gov.uk , they can probably point you in the right direction. 3. Not strictly connected to the recent thread but maybe of use. There is a GLADWISH HOUSE and nearby GLADWISH COTTAGES located next to the main road leading from SUTTON VALENCE to HEADCORN in mid Kent. I know this because an old chum of mine used to own one of the cottages. Kind regards Mike Say

Have you tried to identify any of the neighbouring properties - that is use a map to "walk" the route of the census taker? That might help to pin down the building, if it is still standing. 3. On the 1861 census my COUZENS family occupation(s) is Shoemaker, Post Office and Bakery. When I was in Sussex back in 1999 I tried to locate this house on maps at the RO without success.. Is there another means to find this place? Would there be a book detailing such history? Today the General Store & Post Office is located down the laneway from the Selsey Arms Inn. This is not the same place as back in 1861. Sincerely GAIL in Ontario

    3. I am looking for Thomas BAKER who married a Judith about 1750. I cannot find any record of a marriage and I have looked at Fittleworth parish registers as well as several parishes within a ten-mile radius. Their ten children were baptized in Fittleworth, West Sussex. My ancestor, James BAKER, then moved to Reigate, Surrey. My grandfather, James Baker, immigrated to Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1907. I am going to the FHL in Salt Lake City for two weeks and would like any advice as to where to find the marriage of THOMAS & JUDITH BAKER. Thank you, Regards, Kathy Baker Mississauga, Ontario, Canada ( <mailto:kebaker@pathcom.com> kebaker@pathcom.com)

    3. Dear Listers, I may be coming rather late to this discussion, and you may already have been told this: Angmering was at one stage split into two parishes, East and West Angmering. THe parish church of East Angmering was about 100 yards east of St Margarets, the parish church for West Angmering. St Margarets seems to have won some ecclesiastical tussle, and still stands. East Angmering's church is now represented by a block of masonry in public garden on the opposite side of the road to St Margarets. Angmering is now a single undivided parish. Hugh Simmons

    3. Hi list, This is my 2nd visit to the list but again it will be a short one. On a recent trip to Ypre, Belgium to do some research re my FUDGE family which meant me viewing many gravestone's in the cemetery's in Belgium and France. I have a distant contact to the name MASLEN so whilst walking around Buff Road Cemetery I noticed a gravestone with the surname MASLEN, so just in case there was a connection to George Alfred MASLEN which I've now learned is doubtful I took photo's of the graveyard and his grave. My reason for this post is to see if there is anybody who would like my photo's, if so please contact me as I will be pleased to send them on. Here is some info about George Alfred MASLEN on the CWGC.
