    1. Re: [SXP] RICHARDSON, William Henry (1891 census)
    2. Anne Capewell
    3. Hi again, Tricky one this. Using the FreeBMD list on Ancestry and making a few assumptions I think that William may have died before the 1871 census. This is what I think I have found so far: Ellen Richardson registered birth Sept qtr 1869 Hastings vol 2b page 15 William Richardson marriage Dec qtr 1868 Hastings vol 2b page 32 - to Ellen Hoad. I would start by sending for these two certs. If these are correct then I have found Ellen with her mother in 1881 and 1891 - will send images anyway off list. I cannot find them in 1871 but it is possible that William died Sept qtr 1871 (Hastings vol 2b page 12). Have also found her in 1901. I have found a birth and death for a William Henry Richardson but he would still have been alive in 1871. But as I can't find them anyway this is always possible: birth Sept qtr 1844 Hastings vol 7 page 356 death Sept qtr 1878 Hastings vol 2b page 11 If this is the right William he was a shipwright in 1861 - would a carpenter fit this description? I guess most boats were made of wood then. let me know what you think. cheers, Anne From: militarywife02@hotmail.comTo: alc_goytre@hotmail.com; sussex-plus-l@rootsweb.comSubject: RE: [SXP] RICHARDSON, William Henry (1891 census)Date: Sun, 23 Sep 2007 13:43:17 +0000 Hello, ooops that info might have helped eh?Ellen Anne Richardson was born about 1869 and I have no idea about her mother's name or any other siblings, hoping to learn that. 3. I have received only single copies of Chris Page's emails, and other seem to be complete threads (I haven't checked the list archives). A few possibilities spring to mind: 1 Your or your ISPs S.p.A.m filters are a bit off - can you or have you checked your S.p.A.m folders? 2 Your ISP has had some problems and has not relayed some messages and in trying to sort out the problem has relayed others more than once. 3 You have some filters set up on your email client and they are being triggered to send your emails to a folder where you would not expect them. I did this a few years ago and swore blind to a friend that I had not heard from her only to find them several months later. To my shame I never owned up to the mistake :-( The best way to check if there is a problem is to look at the list archives <http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/SUSSEX-PLUS/> to check if you have missed anything and at the RootsWeb Helpdesk <http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/> to see if there is a problem there (yellow "sticky" at the top). 3. I was a member of the SFHG for a few years and they are invaluable. I second the suggestion. We found many answers to Family history brickwalls, minor and inconvenient through this great resource. Cheers Pam from Adelaide. I have been a member of the Sussex Family History Group (SFHG) for several years (5571) but I am not a Committee member or involved with the running of the Group. I imagine that many of you on this mailing group are also members of the SFHG but I also imagine that many of you are not, despite having an interest in tracing your family history in Sussex. Over the last two months I have made extensive use of some of the services offered by SFHG and their members, and would like to

I imagine that many of you on this mailing group are also members of the SFHG but I also imagine that many of you are not, despite having an interest in tracing your family history in Sussex. Over the last two months I have made extensive use of some of the services offered by SFHG and their members, and would like to publicly thank Brian Cutler (Baptisms Index), Christine Payne (Tombstones and Buriels Index), Judy Excell (Sussex People Index), Michael Hayes (Baptisms Index), Dennis Plank (Settlement Certificates) and Andy Hedgcock (Settlement Certificates) for the amount of time they have taken in providing me with information that has enabled me to progress my research into my PAGE ancestry in central East Sussex. In the cases of Brian Cutler and Christine Payne, the amount of time they have spent has been very considerable. If you have not yet made use of some of these services, then I urge you to consider doing so, especially if you are unable to visit the East Sussex Record Office in Lewes. The amount of information contained in the indexes is immense. Finally, if you are not yet a member of SFHG, then I strongly urge you to consider joining, and thereby making a small return for the services offered by the Group. The SFHG web-site is at <http://www.sfhg.org.uk/> and I consider my annual subscription of only £11 (£13 for overseas members) to be the best value for the money I spend on genealogy. Chris Page
