    3. I would be grateful if some kind soul, with access to the 1901 Census, could do a look up for me. I would like the piece number (which I believe is RG13/888 but don't know for certain), the folio and page numbers for two entries in the 1901 census, for the village of Hooe, in East Sussex. The entries are for William Stubberfield and his wife Elizabeth (aged 74 and 73), and for James Stubberfield (aged51) and his wife, Hannah (aged 50), and their family. John

    3. Hi list, In the 1851 census, my ancestor Samuel Beckett Knight is recorded as a Fisherman. He was living at Seaside Road Cottages. Does anyone know where this is? Does anyone know where i can look to find out more information about what being a fisherman at this time may have been like? Are there any records of fishermen that i can look for? He died in 1858 aged 96 so had a long life! Can anyone find reference to him on teh 1840 census with his wife Hannah? Any information would be interesting Thanks for your help Alison _________________________________________________________________ Celeb spotting – Play CelebMashup and win cool prizes https://www.celebmashup.com

    1. [SXP] HENRY JOHNSON- b.- 1705 @ Steyning.
    2. George Johnson
    3. Hello Listers, My ancestor HENRY JOHNSON, who was christened at Steyning in 1705, was still alive, residing at Broadwater, and signing deeds regarding property in 1794. However, I have been unable to locate a Will, determine the date of death, or locate his place of burial. His son and heir, another Henry Johnson of Waldron & Uckfield, who was christened at Arundel @ 1738, died and was buried at Uckfield on December 30, 1798. His Will, dated December 6, 1797, includes several properties including Truely Manor and farm at Edburton, which were previously the property of his late father Henry Johnson. Somewhere, there must be hidden records concerning the HENRY JOHNSON, who, in 1794, at 89 years of age, was reported to be late of Horley, Surrey, but now of Broadwater, Sussex, and was still involved in deeds concerning East Sussex properties. ( See Mittell / Browne/ Johnson on the A2A.) Any ideas concerning this family mystery, would be greatly appreciated. George Johnson. gwrj@shaw.ca

    3. Hi Michael, Wiblings Farm still exists - www.streetmap.co.uk will show you where. Address is Graffham, Petworth, GU28 0PU. www.old-maps.co.uk show it on maps back to 1880. I have tried www.historicaldirectories.org but couldn't find anything. I assume their son was killed in WW1 - http://www.roll-of-honour.com/Sussex/Graffham.html You could try being really cheeky and writing to the current occupants. cheers, Anne > From: sheate@farmside.co.nz> To: SUSSEX-PLUS@rootsweb.com> Date: Wed, 26 Sep 2007 17:37:39 +1200> Subject: [SXP] Wibling Farm> > Hi There> > I am new to this list> > Does anyone know anything about Wibling Farm, near graffham. > > I believe that George & Bessie Mills lived there aroungd the time of WWI> > Regards> Michael> > -------------------------------> To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to SUSSEX-PLUS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message _________________________________________________________________ 100’s of Music vouchers to be won with MSN Music https://www.musicmashup.co.uk

    3. Michael Anne's suggestion to contact the current owners may work. Some years ago I had a guy knock on my door and to tell me he lived in the house as a kid and wondered if a cemented area was still in the back yard with their initials and dates. I was very happy to be able to show him...
