    1. [SXP] Edmund ELDRIDGE and Catherine SKINNER
    2. D Eldridge
    3. Hello again, Several readers have followed me with Catherine SKINNER. >From the census - 1891 - Edmund ELDRIDGE was at Brede, Sussex but his ocupation was WAGGONER. Also shown is my G/Father Wiliam George ELDRIDGE, aged 13 and a WAGGONER'S MATE. Catherine SKINNER, aka Kate, was from Kilndown, Kent. Often, there is mention on this site about ELDRIDGE - Bell Makers. I have reason to beleive that this is another tribe. My ELDRIDGES, back to 1683, have been on the land. 3. Hello Listers, I can be sure that my ELDRIDGE line lived in Sussex back in 1683 but, with help, they have been recorded back to 1545. Can someone suggest how I could find where these very early ancestors lived, whether in Sussex or elsewhere? Also, I would like to collaborate with anyone researching the following:- Edmund ELDRIDGE 1854 - 1917 and his wife Catherine SKINNER 1857- 1924 and descendants of these, MEPHAM and GOODWIN. 3. Hi Ros, Look on www.old-maps.co.uk. Search for Arundel and the first map should be 1879. The windmill is a little to the south east of the town on the second river bend after the bridge. In 1879 it was still in use as a flour mill but by 1899 it was marked as disused. hth, Anne > From: ros.dunn@tiscali.co.uk> To: SUSSEX-PLUS@rootsweb.com> Date: Sat, 1 Dec 2007 17:08:31 +0000> Subject: [SXP] Windmills, Arundel.> > I am wondering if anyone can help me, please. 1. [SXP] 1787 Deaths
    2. PMR
    3. Hello Listers Something has just jumped out at me while checking one of my Hampshire families. Susannah OSMAN née ROBINS and Elizabeth LUFFMAN née ROBINS both died in 1787. Susannah's burial is registered at St Mary's Portsea on 14 Jul 1787 - she was 37. Her sister Elizabeth's burial is in the St Mary's Alverstoke (she was 31), the only date so far gleaned being the year, ie 1787. Can anyone tell me if there was an epidemic in the Alverstoke-Gosport-Portsmouth-Portsea area at that time? It seems a strange coincidence. Both, daughters of John ROBINS and Sarah née TURLINGTON, had been baptised in St Mary's Portsea, Susannah in 1750 and Elizabeth in 1756. Two of their three siblings (Joseph and Mary: Mrs Redman) moved to Chichester, the third (Sarah: Mrs Harvey) to London. Is anyone able to supply the full date for Elizabeth's burial please? And are there any suggestions as to the cause of this Many thanks. Cheers Pam Beaudesert, Queensland, Australia

You should perhaps be aware that there are villages called Brington (Great and Little) in Northamptonshire, some eight or ten miles west of the town of Northampton. Chris

    3. Hi List, I am interested to hear from anyone who may have connections to my Ford ancestors who appear to have originated in Westbourne Sussex, then are found in Chelsea London, and then in Avoca Victoria Australia. My 3 x Great Grandmother - Sarah Ford arrived with her husband Peter King, together with their 3 children, Charles, Peter Jnr., and Mary Ann, from Chelsea London in the mid 1850's. Her husband went on to set up a Bakery business with their 2 sons in High St Avoca. Her parents Charles Ford and Ann Richardson were said to have been born in Sussex. I would like to make contact with any descendents of this Ford family and am willing to swap all information I have collected to date. Hoping there is someone out there who is interested ! With best wishes from sunny Queensland ................ Joan Jackson. Some Surnames connected to the Ford Family include :- Carslake, Clark, Cruikshank, Eastmore, Furguson, Hartley, Harvey, King, Newman, Noble, Paragreen, Richardson and Tijou.

    3. Hi Roslyn The entry on the IGI is an LDS submission and given that the informant may not have known the exact details may be wrong (birth dates are rare at that time, usually Baptism date is the best you can hope for) The same LDS member seems to have claimed a George (1826) and a William (1827) LAMPARD of Hartfield as the children of Thomas & Judith, given they married in 1833 perhaps Thomas married before Judith or they are the children of another Thomas (there is a Thomas & Elizabeth in Hartfield) The batch number for Hartfield is C148281 which covers 1648 - 1812 but there are no LAMPARDs (or anything like it) So I suspect that you will need to spread your net a little wider There are two children baptised at Hartfield that appear on the BVRI LAMPARD, Henry John Christening Sex: Male Christening Date: 27 Nov 1836 Recorded in: Hartfield, Sussex, England Father: Thomas LAMPARD Mother: Judith Source: FHL Number 1067265 Dates: 1813-1881 LAMPARD, James Christening Sex: Male Christening Date: 25 Aug 1833 Recorded in: Hartfield, Sussex, England Father: Thomas LAMPARD Mother: Judith Source: FHL Number 1067265 Dates: 1813-1881 There does not appear to be any LAMPARDs or similar in the 1841 at Hartfield so perhaps they left these shores before the census? Best wishes Nivard Ovington, in Cornwall (UK) > Hi, > > I was wondering if someone is able to please help me. 1. [SXP] UK Inbound Passenger Lists 1878 - 1960
    2. Dear Listers, Thought you might like to know that Ancestry is planning on launching the UK Inbound Passenger Lists 1878-1960 in mid 2008. They contain "the names of 18 million immigrants and tourists who arrived in the United Kingdom over the course of almost a century from destinations outside Europe and the Mediterranean... The one million pages that comprise the UK Inbound Passenger Lists are organised by port of arrival and may include information such as name, age, occupation and intended address in the UK. Also included may be the purpose of the journey, the name of the ship, its owner and port of origin". I've no interest in Ancestry other than I am a subscriber who will be very pleased to access these records!
