    3. Hello to all again. I am trying to resolve a question in my DEWDNEY ancestors that involves a marriage of George DEWDNEY and Jane KNAPP 01 Nov 1858 at Shermanbury I am hoping to tie in with some folks who are or have researched the KNAPP family of that area We believe Jane was the daughter of Thomas and Mary KNAPP, and born at Twineham so if anyone has access to Registers from there it would be helpful Anyone have any connections ?? 3. There are two burial grounds at Bosham, the churchyard and the cemetery in Fairfield Road which opened in 1902. The Memorial Inscriptions for both grounds were transcribed in 1984 and 1994 respectively by G. Marwood and copies, with sketch maps, are deposited at the West Sussex Record Office in Chichester. The inscriptions from both are also included in the SFHG's Tombstones & Burials database and you can request searches by E-mail. See URL http://www.sfhg.org.uk/tombstones.html for further details. Best wishes Marion Woolgar Bognor Regis, West Sussex

    3. Hi, I have the transcripts of Bosham burials up to 1965, no sign of either but they could have had their ash's interred. 2. Heather & Chris Lord
    3. Hi again listers Could SKS please look up the above death for me? I have a death date of 28 Dec 1978 and the district would've almost certainly been Hastings, Sussex. What I am after this time is age at death. I've tried www.ancestry.co.uk but the free information available doesn't help. It's not on freeBMD either. Many TIA Heather in Oz

    3. Hi: I apologize that this is not research for Sussex, but I was wondering if there is anyone on Sussex Plus that could do a look up on Ancestry from their Canadian content, I tried to access the information and it looks like I have to upgrade which for one entry I did not really want to do. I would be very appreciative if someone could help. Pat

    3. Hi Listers, I am trying to confirm the final "resting place" for my gr grandparents Albert and Diana LANNING who both died in Bosham, W Sussex. Albert died in 1915 and Diana in 1923. I believe both died in Colmer Terrace, Bosham and I can only assume that they were buried in the local cemetery. A few years ago, I had only a 10 minute search of the cemetery with no success. I have 2 questions: what is the name and possible contact information of the church in Bosham and are there any on line records for the cemetery? Any on line contact information, regardles of how insignificant, would be very much appreciated. Cheers, Ted LANNING, West Vancouver, BC CAN

    1. [SXP] KEMP marriage 1918?
    2. David Hopkins
    3. Hi Heather Have you tried looking at the scans of the BMD Register pages on Freebmd ? Click on "View Images." There is no marriage for an Albert KEMP in Sussex shown in either the December 1918 or March 1919 pages. Perhaps your sources need to be checked if this is possible. The only other thing to do is to work through the scanned pages quarter by quarter before and after December 1918/March 1919 to see if the marriage can be found. This is a bit laborious but should get results. Good luck. 3. Annie Maria LAVENDER was born 7 February 1866, Hailsham Sussex to George Lavender and Elizabeth Hannah Foster. Annie married George SMITH 1892 in Portsea. (he was a stoker on the HMS Crocodile at the time of marriage) She died 1948, (June quarter) in Hailsham Sussex. I don’t know if she had any children, but was possibly living in Sackville Road Hailsham. (Im waiting for the certificate to arrive from the PRO) Does anyone have a connection with SMITHs in Sackville Road from about 1905 to 1948 please? I have further information on Annie's siblings. 1. [SXP] Look up request - KEMP marriage 1918?
    2. Heather & Chris Lord
    3. Hi all Could SKS please look up a marriage for me? I am told the marriage took place 28 Dec 1918 at Ewhurst Green, Sussex - the one near Battle/Hastings - not to be confused with Ewhurst in Surrey :-) The grooms name is Albert KEMP and the bride is either Rose or Rosetta. Not sure of the surname, so this is what I'm hoping to find out. It may be HAYES. I'm also hoping to confirm whether the marriage date is correct. I know that a lookup in the BMDs will only give the Quarter in which the marriage took place, but that would be confirmation or otherwise that the date is likely to be correct. I have tried FreeBMD but without success. Many TIA Heather in Oz

    3. Hi, in the 1901 census Annie Maria Smith is a boarder at 4, Sophia Place, Portsmouth. Her occupation is a nurse ? , this word is most likely monthly as Walter and Bertha Fulcher have 2 children plus a 16 day old baby. 3. Hi Heather Looking at the images on Freebmd - there is not an Albert Kemp marriage in Sussex in either December 1918 or March 1919 I didn't look any further - just put Kemp in the surname box and select the dates, then click on the spectacles next to one of the names Debbie Heather & Chris Lord wrote: > Hi all > > Could SKS please look up a marriage for me? > > I am told the marriage took place 28 Dec 1918 at Ewhurst Green, Sussex - the > one near Battle/Hastings - not to be confused with Ewhurst in Surrey :-) > > The grooms name is Albert KEMP and the bride is either Rose or Rosetta. 2. Marion Woolgar
    3. I visited WSRO today and took your request for a look-up in the Up Marden Marriage Register with me. Unfortunately, there is no marriage between John BUDDEN and Harriett READ to be seen in it during 1844, or for +/- five years around it. So I concluded that either the date or place were wrong. That is where the matter would have ended, but during the lunch break I remembered that The Marden's are well represented on the IGI. Sure enough it was listed, but at East Marden. Here are the details: 30 Nov 1844 John BUDDEN, Full, Bach, Laborer, Idesworth?, William BUDDEN, Laborer Harriet READE, Full, Sp, ---, East Marden, Robert READE, Laborer Witnesses: Sarah DANIELS, William REED [No mention whether the ceremony was by Banns or by Licence] Best wishes Marion Woolgar Bognor Regis, West Sussex

    2. Anne Capewell
    3. Hi Lorna, It certainly does go back that far - and further - but the only marriage I could find for the right period/area was Thomas Standen and Ann Gasson 26/10/1674 in Wivelsfield (just south east of Cuckfield). It could be the right one - I have several Mary Anns recorded variously as Mary and/or Ann. IGI has two other births for Thomas and Mary in Cuckfield: William ch 2/09/1715 John ch 7/02/1717 both of which might make the above marriage unlikely. You can view the Cuckfield list on IGI by searching on batch number P014341, entering Standen, British Isles, England and Sussex. hth, Anne > From: lornapratt@hotmail.com> To: sussex-plus@rootsweb.com> Date: Thu, 3 Jan 2008 21:27:56 -0200> Subject: [SXP] Sussex marriage - Standen> > > Hi Everyone,> > I am looking for a marriage between Thomas STANDEN and Mary ? in the late 1600's.
