Hi Jack, I believe BEECHING is originally a Kent name. I have a BEECHING family in my tree who centred on a blacksmiths shop in Charing, Kent from abt 1600 to the 1800s. Before that it was a plentiful name but centred on one particular area. > From: "[shawmail.gv.shawcable.net]:[Jack Beeching]" <jbee18@shaw.ca>> Subject: [SXP] Sussex Surname Interests -ANDROWES, BEECHING, BRADFORD,> BROWN, BRYANT, CHALONOR, CLEER, CONSTABLE, EDWARDS, ELLIOT, GALE,> GARTON, GOODWIN, HERIOTT, HOLDEN, JENNER, PENFOLDE, SCRASE, STEER,> STEYNING, TUPPIN, TURNER, WADE, WHITPAINE > > It has been a while since I posted this list of names. Hi All I am still having trouble accessing the Ancestry site - haven't been able to get on for 3 days now. On the www.freebmd.org.uk website [an invaluable gift to us all] there's the marriage of an Ann Allcorn which looks right. Marriages Dec 1852 Allcorn Ann Brighton 2b349 MEASOR Edwin Herbert Bish Brighton 2b349 MEASOR Edwin Herbert Fish Brighton 2b349 Pelham Laura Jane Fellingham Brighton 2b349 PELHAM Lausa Jane Fellingham Brighton 2b349 SARGENT John James Brighton 2b349 You can get the marriage cert through this reference, through the GRO online or your local Register office if you live in the Brighton area. When you look up a name on this website you can click on the reference number [ 349 in this case] and you will get a list of the people with that reference. You should check the original clips to make sure you have the correct details, as you can see the volunteer transcribers do not always get things right. I am not related, just use that website a lot Best wishes Barbara ----- Original Message ----- From: "sueandbarrytervit" <sueandbarrytervit@clear.net.nz> To: <SUSSEX-PLUS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, January 18, 2008 11:23 PM Subject: [SXP] Allcorn/ Measor > Hi List, > I have a Anne Measor Widow marrying my Grt Grnd father Richard > Croucher in Chiddingly in 1879, her maiden name was Allcorn, but I would > like to know who her first husband was. > If any one is searching this line I would love to har from you. > > Regards > Sue from a very hot N.Z. > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > SUSSEX-PLUS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes in the subject and the body of the message > ----- Original Message ----- From: "Barbara Prowse" <tigger.prowse@tesco.net> To: "sueandbarrytervit" <sueandbarrytervit@clear.net.nz> Sent: Saturday, January 19, 2008 12:03 AM Subject: Re: [SXP] Allcorn/ Measor > On the www.freebmd.org.uk website [an invaluable gift to us all] there's > the marriage of an Ann Allcorn which looks right. > Marriages Dec 1852 > Allcorn Ann Brighton 2b349 > MEASOR Edwin Herbert Bish Brighton 2b349 > MEASOR Edwin Herbert Fish Brighton 2b349 > Pelham Laura Jane Fellingham Brighton 2b349 > PELHAM Lausa Jane Fellingham Brighton 2b349 > SARGENT John James Brighton 2b349 > > You can get the marriage cert through this reference, through the GRO > online or your local Register office if you live in the Brighton area. > When you look up a name on this website you can click on the reference > number [ 349 in this case] and you will get a list of the people with that > reference. > You should check the original clips to make sure you have the correct > details, as you can see the volunteer transcribers do not always get > things right. > > I am not related, just use that website a lot > Best wishes > Barbara > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "sueandbarrytervit" <sueandbarrytervit@clear.net.nz> > To: <SUSSEX-PLUS-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Friday, January 18, 2008 11:23 PM > Subject: [SXP] Allcorn/ Measor > > >> Hi List, >> I have a Anne Measor Widow marrying my Grt Grnd father Richard >> Croucher in Chiddingly in 1879, her maiden name was Allcorn, but I would >> like to know who her first husband was. >> If any one is searching this line I would love to har from you. >> >> Regards >> Sue from a very hot N.Z. >> >> ------------------------------- >> To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to >> SUSSEX-PLUS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the >> quotes in the subject and the body of the message >> >

Hello listers Is anyone else experiencing trouble getting on to the Ancestry website? Regards Sharee
Hi Judy I am afraid not.... It has the Grooms father and the brides father plus their occupations and grooms place of residence at time of marriage which is usually the parents...... which is rather handy as you can check postal directories etc. Also the grooms occupation, both their ages and of course witnesses which can also shed some light on things. The occupations can lead to apprenticeship records etc.... A mighty handy little document in a pinch. >From there of course you head for the census data, as I said the directories........ Then of course, the First World War ended in 1918.........so you can go online and search Commonwealth war graves website.
