Hello Listers, For years, I have been seeking further information on my 5-th Gt. Grandfather HENRY JOHNSON, a tanner, who was born at Steyning in 1705, and is known to have been alive and residing in Broadwater, Sussex in 1794. It is known that Henry Johnson was residing in Horley, Surrey in 1791, but in 1794, he was listed as being " late of Horley, Surrey and now of Broadwater, Sussex." It is probable that Henry Johnson, now aged 89 years, was residing with his widowed daughter Hester Haines at South Farm in Broadwater in 1794. However, I have been unable to obtain any further information regarding him, after 1794, regarding his death, place of burial, Will or Administration of his estate, etc. It is known that he inherited some properties through his marriage inrto the LEEVES family, but the deeds to these properties are confused by the fact that his heir was also named Henry Johnson ( 1739-1798 ) Any further information that might be suggested, would be greatly appreciated. George Johnson: gwrj@shaw.ca
Andy, I hope you are not getting too overwhelmed with responses to your kind offer however I would really appreciate details of any occurrences of the surname LANGRIDGE. Thanx Malcolm Dobson Gisborne NZ

Hi Everyone, Is there someone who could do a look up for me of the Bishop's Transcript of the Up -Marden records. I have found a JOHN FAY christened 3 MAY 1723 Upmarden, Sussex. This has come from the IGI and has no father or mother listed. The entry has come from the parish records. Other entries have parents but not this one. I am hoping the clerk might have remember to add the parents to the Bishop's Transcripts. Thanks so much for any help, Lorna

Andy, Would appreciate a lookup for the name PRIVETT please. Many thanks Dee
The best place to look for any member of the Anglican Clergy is "Crockfords". There is a very good "run" of these directories at WSRO and I need to check them for myself when I am next there - possibly on Saturday, if the weather isn't too bad. So, if you can give me a clue when the Rev Edward CHADWICK was known to be in the ministry, I will do a look-up for you at the same time. Best wishes Marion Woolgar Bognor Regis, West Sussex
