    2. [shawmail.gv.shawcable.net]:[Jack Beeching]
    3. Hello list, I have a John Beeching who was christened, 31 Dec 1815, St. Nicholas, Brighton, never to be seen or heard of again. There is a possible candidate in the 1841 census HO 107/722/13, City of London, St Mary Woolchurch Haw. This John is born out of county about 1818, and is a journeyman butcher. My John came from a family of butchers. I have searched the National Burial Index, as well as FreeBMD, and Ancestry UK, looking for John. Also the Sussex Marriage Index came up short. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance, Jack Beeching

    3. The PRTS have published a transcript & Index of the Arundel Anglican Parish Registers for the period 1560 to 1876. This does not show any baptisms for the children of Henry and Susan WARD circa 1806. Could the father's name be wrong? I ask because the Index shows that there are these two baptisms at around the right date, but the father's name is John: 1802 07 Aug Henry son of John & Susan WARD 1804 26 Aug Susan daur of John & Susan WARD Best wishes Marion Woolgar Bognor Regis, West Sussex

    3. Cliff, On the FreeBMD site you have Walter MOOREY married to two possibles, a Emma HALL or Maria HOWARD. On checking the 1891 census I found a Walter MOOREY living with wife named Emma. Can we assume it's Emma HALL? Cannot help with where they were married though. 3. Hi Nick There's a reference in the index (Vol 1661-1700) to William LEPPARD (1667) but that entry has actually been omitted from the main section. So you'll need to check with the East Sussex Record Office who probably still have them today. You could check online for this. 1. [SXP] Help please! DUNEY 1612 & BANFIELD 1827 ish
    2. Jacqui Bell
    3. Here's my 2nd email! Some specific requests if anyone comes across these people, please: I have recently discovered that a Richard DUNEY was churchwarden at Shermanbury in 1612. As this spelling variation is one I've come across early in my direct line, I am particularly interested to find out more about this chap. There were some DUNEYs in Henfield in 1660s-1703 - again, if anyone has more on these people, I'd love to know. Currently, they aren't linked to any other branch... There's a good chance my family ought to link to them somehow! I would also be very grateful if someone could find the baptism for Ann BANFIELD b. cir 1827 in Cowfold (from census), dau of Samuel. I suspect that her mother is Anne LELLIOTT - m. 1825 Henfield. However it appears that Anne died (would like to find this too) and that a widowed Samuel BANFIELD married Mary PEACOCK in Westmeston in 1834. Samuel, with children Samuel & Ann from 1st marriage, wife Mary & further children are in Westmeston in 1841. Many thanks, Jacqui

    3. As I haven't posted here for a while, I thought it would be useful to re-post my interests. A bit of detail on my Sussex surnames with a couple of specific requests to follow as my original message was too long to be posted (3rd time lucky I hope): DEWDNEY & DUDNEY (also DEWNEY, DUNEY, DUNY etc) The same bunch from primarily Shermanbury / Henfield as Phil White's. KNAPP Thomas KNAPP b. cir 1783 in Carshalton, Surrey, probably the one bap. 23 Aug 1783 son of Charles & Sarah. Married Mary MASON in Twineham 1806 (thanks again MW!) and had 9 children born in Twineham or Shermanbury - probably! Sons George & James had very extensive families, the latter in Woodmancote. HEASMAN James b. cir 1790 Ardingly (IGI has 2 of this name baptised that year...) married Mary LUNN in Henfield in 1816. They had 6 children. Am I likely to find a newspaper or coroner's report on the suicide of Alfred HEASMAN in Henfield in 1881? Apparently he drowned himself & an inquest was heard. BANFIELD One of the large families in Ashurst / Woodmancote (do the various families link up?), currently headed by William who m. Mary GROVER 1733. WELLING Sarah bap 1794 Upper Beeding, dau of William WELLING & Ann GODDARD, both b. Upper Beeding. RICHARDSON - Ann m. John DUDNEY 1787 in Hurstpierpoint, d. 1789 Shermanbury. Don't know anything more about her. Also: Sarah COBBEY b cir 1738 possibly W. Chiltington m. William "DUSNEY" 1763 W Grinstead. Ann GIBBS, dau of Thomas GIBBS & Jane BLUNDEN, m1. Philip NAYLARD m2. William DUDNEY 1732/3 Cowfold. Kind regards, Jacqui
