I googles for "Dating Photos" and came up with lots of sites telling me what sort of photo I should provide for online dating! Which wasn't what I had in mind at all! I understand that photography got going only in the mid-late 1830s (hope that's right). Ggf died in May 1850, so the photo was likely taken in the 1840s which is quite early. Ggm died in 1862. Hers is almost full length although she's seated, so it gives a reasonable view of her clothing, complete with bonnet; his unfortunately is not much more than head and shoulders, but he is wearing a hat. Can someone point me to a site please (so I get the right thing!) to check these photos out please? Or would someone be happy to take a look at them - I can email them without difficulty. Help appreciated. Many thanks. Cheers Pam Beaudesert, Queensland, Australia

    3. You didn't specify and particular baptisms or possible dates, so I checked the Slaugham Baptism Register (WSRO ref PAR 483/1/2/1) for the period 1831 to 1841, but found no MARTIN entries at all. I did have one response that did not help, probably because my first post wasnt perfectly clear What I need is access to the Slaugham PRs to get actual baptismal dates for the children of John and Sarah Martin who claimed their children were born in Slaugham, and were so listed in the 1841 Census. I hope someone has access to these PRS. Tried Paris Chest but they do not have a CD Phil White

    1. [SXP] Joseph STENSON death 1882
    2. Hi Everyone I have a relative, Joseph STENSON who lived in Groombridge in 1881. Here is the 1881 Census information: 1881 Census - Fielding Road, Groombridge, Sussex RG11/1056 Folio 24 Joseph Stenson, Head, Widr, 72, Retired Engineer, West Hallam Emily Birt, Servant Wid, 44, Hosekeeper, Lenifison Bucks Frank Stenson, Son, 4, Leeds (one of the evils flesh is heir to) Joseph died 29 Oct 1882 at Groombridge. This is shown in the Probate Index: England & Wales, National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations),1861-1941 Name: Joseph Stenson Probate Date: 9 Dec 1882 Death Date: 29 Oct 1882 Death Place: Groombridge, Sussex, England Registry: Principal Registry Notes: To Spenser Hall Stenson, son Effects: £3,705 9 s 2d As you can see, Joseph was not without money, having been an Ironmaster at Northampton. Basically I have two requests. 1. Would SKS please check the local newspaper archives to see if there a write up about his death? 2. Would SKS please check for a burial record or headstone for me? Also, I am wondering how and where I would be able to get a copy of his will. Thank you for your time. Any information or direction would be very much appreciated. Vern, Ontario, Canada

    3. Hello, I have been hunting for my LEANEY ancestors for many years now without success. Today I found a document that indicated that my Thomas LEANEY may have actually been born as a PRIGETT in about 1808 (could be as late as 1813). The 1851 census gives his his place of birth as Ditchling.   Does anyone by chance have access to the Ditchling PRs who wouldn't mind doing a look up for me. Thanks heaps Josie Queensland Australia LEANEY, TESTER in Ditchling PRESS in Framfield

    1. Re: [SXP] GOBLE Marriage
    2. Elizabeth Allen
    3. Hello Anne I may be able to help a little. I've looked at transcripts of the Funtington parish registers and also at the original 1813-37 marriage registers on microfiche. William GOBLE did indeed marry Sarah GOBLE in Funtington on 19 Sep 1836. The register states that he was a widower and she was a spinster, that they were both of the parish of Funtington and that they were married after banns. Sarah signed the register whereas William made his mark. The witnesses were Thomas Goble and Eliza Goble. Looking at the transcripts of the baptism registers, a Sarah GOBLE was baptised on 20 Jan 1809 to parents James and Sarah. This couple had various other children baptised in Funtington between 1795 and 1816, including a Thomas and an Eliza, so these may have been the witnesses to William and Sarah's marriage. James GOBLE was a labourer. I can't see the marriage of James and Sarah GOBLE, nor that of William GOBLE to his first wife, so I presume these took place in other parishes. Hope this helps. Kind regards Lizzie Allen ----- Original Message ----- > From: Anne Hunt <[email protected]> > To: [email protected] > Cc: > Sent: Saturday, 30 April 2011, 14:09 > Subject: [SXP] GOBLE Marriage > > Hello all, > > Im looking for marriage details of a Sarah GOBLE b.1809 Funtington.  I believe > she married a William GOBLE (yes, same surname), but not entirely sure.  I have > a marriage of > 19th September 1836 in Funtington. > What I would like to know is - > Is William’s name really GOBLE and if so who are his parents.  If not, what was > Williams surname.  Is this the correct date of the marriage for Sarah & > William. > > I have Sarah’s parents as James & Sarah Goble of Funtington. > > Hoping someone can help.  Thank you. > > Anne > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes in the subject and the body of the message >
