    3. Thank you, Although I am not a direct beneficiary of your generosity in putting this album on line, it is a tremendously valuable resource that you have put into the pool. I am sure many people will benefit from it. I especially like the way you hve included 2 or 3 shots of difficult subjects - mostly where the gloom required flash and you have repositioned yourself to make the full inscription legible. Then of course there ar the lovely shots of ducks etc.. >From my point of view - a lovely contribution. I have no idea whether this is possible - can you, would you make it available on a longer term basis so some future researcher could find it - with some way of keeping your copyright on it? I know some professionals show their photos with a device which allows them to be seen, without being copiable. 3. Wittering (East or West) is in West Sussex, close to Hampshire and on the coast. (We occasionally went there to the beach when I was little) Witherenden is in East Sussex, inland. I was interested in your Lindsay of Crawford remark as it is a Scots title but the family had a base in the northwest of England, (300 miles away from Sussex) notably Wigan in Lancashire where I lived for nearly 30 years and many of the names, Crawford, Balcarres, Lindsay are used all over the town. Haigh Hall is now a replacement, early 19th century building after an earlier Earl mined too close to the building and it fell down! It now belongs to the people - the local council and the park especially is very well used. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earl_of_Crawford Jean > Date: Sat, 21 May 2011 10:03:51 +1200 > From: [email protected] > To: [email protected] > Subject: [SXP] Fwd: Bygone Wittering Exhibition > > Hello from New Zealand > > Is this place WITTERING connected to WITHERENDEN near Ticehurst > where my 14th gt grandfather Sir Adam NEWINGTON B circa 1440 / 1450 > please.....?? > > Have searched for his lineage for over thirty years (His Armorials > incude LINDSAY OF CRAWFORD) > > Sir Adam NEWINGTON married Alice CULPEPER of Bedgebury in 1481 > > Kind regards from > > Maree S. 1. [SXP] Henry & Harriet (née REDMAN) TREW
    2. PMR
    3. Hello Listers Harriet REDMAN married Henry TREW in the Church of St Peter the Great in Chichester on 16 Oct 1815. Their daughter Fanny Gordon TREW (listed a 'male' on one list!) was baptised in St Andrew's Chichester on 26 Oct 1818 and their son Henry Redman TREW was baptised in St Nicholas's Mid Lavant on 25 Mar 1821. The parents were born in 1791 and 1792 respectively, both in Chichester. After that I can find (online anyway) no record of them. I'm wondering if they emigrated. My interest is that Harriet's mother (Mary née ROBINS) was a sister of a paternal ancestor of mine. Any information on this twig would be gratefully appreciated. Many thanks. 2. Dave & Valerie
    3. I should have included some more information on Hilda May Whittington. Hilda was fostered/adopted by another family, Arthur and Eliza BOOTE., and in Sept. 1907 the family immigrated to Canada and I've found them all on the Canadian Census and Provincial census. The question is a time line...what happened to Hilda from October 1904 to Sept 1907 and when did the BOOTE family get her. Sorry for being so disjointed Cheers Dave ----- No virus found in this message. Checked by AVG - www.avg.com Version: 10.0.1321 / Virus Database: 1500/3634 - Release Date: 05/12/11
