Its amazing to hear that someone who died in 1976 is considered an ancestor already. LOL. Hello List, Thanks to Nivard I have tracked down my Grandfathers d.c., but now I have another problem. Died. Name. Age. Informant. Registrar. Initialled Comment 16.10.1950. Edwin 73 E.H.Budd. H.E.T.Eager. 39 Florence Rd. -Edward-14 Sister. Fourteen Brighton. STEVENS. 49 Sunnyside, H.E.T.E. otherwise Friday Street, BUDD. Warnham. The Brighton address is correct as Edwins daughter, my Aunt, lived there. The name Edward was crossed out with the number 14 after, as shown. My father and Aunt's b.c. show Edwin STEVENS and Louisa STEVENS formally BUTLER as their parents. Until now I have never heard of the BUDD connection and have not been able to find a marriage cert. for Edwin and Louisa. If any lister has any suggestions etc.as to why this name change happened and what my next step should be, I will be very gratefull. Thank you for reading this, Peter STEVENS, Brisbane.
Hello List I would like to contact anyone with knowledge of the WHEATLEY family of Eridge Road, Tunbridge Wells. They were at No. 32 in 1891 and at No. 36 in 1911, and in those days the address was included in Sussex. They were still there in the 1940's, though by then the postal address was Kent. They have a connection to my REEVES family who lived next door, the two families were close friends for many years and I knew the Wheatleys well as a child. Many thanks Joan Cowdell (nee Reeves)
Hi George, I see you've asked this question before. You will find the marriage on the below link which I've copied text also if link doesn't work. Taken from Full text of "Calendar of Sussex marriage licences recorded in the Consistory Court of the Bishop of Chichester for the Archdeaconry of Lewes, August, 1670, to March, 1728-9, and in the Peculiar Court of the Archbishop of Canterbury for the deanery of South Malling, May, 1620, to December, 1732. Hello Listers; I would greatly appreciate any further information that might be available from any source, regarding the marriage of John Johnson and Dionisia Atwood, which is alleged to have taken place at Waldron on September 8, 1684. Your suggestions will be most welcome.
Hi Listers. Having now obtained the death certificate for my aunts suicide and the exact date I am hoping that one of you may be able to help. As there was a Coroners Inquest held on 19 April 1979 there may be a Coroners report in one of the local newspapers. Would some kind soul be able to look this up for me, please? My aunts name was PATRICIA READY. I would really appreciate any help with this as she committed suicide at Cuckmere Haven, Seaford. Rona.
I would appreciate it if someone could supply me with some information on Frederick Wells (christened 1 July 1796 Dorking - parents William & Jane - died 27 Jan 1849 Brighton). He is mentioned in the Cricket Archives of Sussex Players. I am hoping he is my 2 great grandfather. Thanking you, Dawn Hutchinson
Have BATCHELOR in my SAY family. My gggrandmother was an ANN SAY nee BATCHELOR and was born at Henfield Sussex circa 1805. Regards Mike Say
I should have added that William Batchelor and Mary Foster who married at Dunsfold were having children baptised in Dunsfold right through from their marriage in 1829 to1851 so they cannot be the same couple having children in Warnford. My information is taken from original parish records. Hello, I believe that William Cossam was my 4 X Gt Grandfather. This is my line: William Cossam 1718 - 1745 married Elizabeth Nutley next generation: Dinah Cossam married William Thompsett next generation: Lydia Thompsett 1801 - 1861 married Thomas Hopper 1798 - 1875 next generation: George Hopper (property owner in Lewes) 1826 - 1890 married Lucy Finch next generation: Henry Hopper 1863 - 1898 married in 1896 Emily Rainbird. Prior to that, Henry, (a baker in Lewes) had a son Cecil Harry Hopper Wiseman (born 1892) by Lilian Kate Wiseman. Lilian, at some point went to live in Acton. On 5 April 1898 Henry threw himself under a passing train at Acton Station. On his death certificate his occupation is given at this time, as Bookmaker, of 63 Cavendish Place, Eastbourne. He and wife Emily had a young son William Henry Hopper born 1897. Emily remarried (a Herbert Smith). William was raised by Henry's sister Clara Ann Lydia and her husband Arthur Harris. Arthur was Bank Manager and lived at Bank House, Barclays Ltd, Terminus Road, Eastbourne. William became a pilot in the RAF and was living in Cairo, Egypt in about 1919. There, my trail goes cold. I have tried to find further information on the Rainbird and Harris family but been unsuccessful, so far. I should dearly love to find out more about William Henry, who would have been Grandad's half brother. Kind regards Jill
