    3. Hi Heather, Many thanks for your reply. I too am beginning to think the same. My Jeremiah married Sarah Gardener in Eastergate in 1797 and died in Eastergate in 1840. They had 6 children as far as I know, one being George Northeast who married Harriot Clark in 1824 in Felpham. I am wondering if Jeremiah born 1738 to Jeremiah and Mary is actually the father of my Jeremiah and not the brother as I have supposed. It sounds more logical. However I wonder if Jeremiah who married Mary could have also married Jane Smith after Mary died if I can find her death. Many thanks again. I am actually trying now to trace the descendants of my Grandfathers brothers. My Gt Grandfather was Edmund/Edmond Northeast born in Eastergate in 1829. Married to Jane Burningham in 1858 and they had 11 children of whom 8 were male. I never knew any of them but there must be families out there somewhere. I have just learnt through my new found cousin, of a Kent Cricketer named Sam Northeast and we are wondering about his ancestry. Fascinating to have an unusual surname like ours. Its difficult to research becasue it usually comes up with points of the compass when searching on the internet. sincerely Eileen(nee Northeast) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Heather Brooks" <[email protected]> To: "eileen/pat" <[email protected]>; <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, July 23, 2011 7:25 AM Subject: Re: [SXP] NORTHEAST > Hi, I don't think your Jeremiah born abt 1760 is the son of Jeremiah and > Mary. > There were 2 children from this marriage chr at Felpham Jeremiah 24/3/1738 > and a male child 24/5/1740. > Ann Northeast chr Appledram 20/3/1742 and buried 15/6/1743 Daughter of > Jeremiah and Mary. > Buried at Appledram "The wife Northeast" November 1750 wife of Jeremiah. > > A Jeremiah Northeast bachelor from Appledram married a Jane Smith at > Pagham in 1745. > Regards Heather Brooks > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "eileen/pat" <[email protected]> > To: <[email protected]> > Sent: Thursday, July 21, 2011 11:56 AM > Subject: [SXP] NORTHEAST > > >> My Fathers Sussex Ancestors I have traced back to Jeremiah NORTHEAST who >> married Mary Farnfell in Chichester in 1737 at All Saints. and died in >> 1763. 3. Hi, I don't think your Jeremiah born abt 1760 is the son of Jeremiah and Mary. There were 2 children from this marriage chr at Felpham Jeremiah 24/3/1738 and a male child 24/5/1740. Ann Northeast chr Appledram 20/3/1742 and buried 15/6/1743 Daughter of Jeremiah and Mary. Buried at Appledram "The wife Northeast" November 1750 wife of Jeremiah. A Jeremiah Northeast bachelor from Appledram married a Jane Smith at Pagham in 1745. From that, I have done some further research this morning and I believe that I have found a descendant of Rev. LANCASTER. As that person is still living, it would be inappropriate to give any further details here, but I am most grateful for your kind assistance. 3. Hello Jean, Thank you for your response. I have made similar searches to yourself and I also found the 1911 census entry and the same possible children. Victor Pearson LANCASTER was an engineer and so could have travelled widely because of his occupation, but I have insufficient information to decide which of the two 1917 births may be relevant. 3. Rona, Funny you should post this, this week. I was working on my very extended family last week and came across a Harriet WEEKS born C1835 in Wadhurst, Sussex. - who in 1859 married William CANE (born: C1829 in Wadhurst, Sussex). Their children, all born Wadhurst, Sussex, are: George - born: C1860 William - born: C1863 James - born: C1866 John - born: C1869 I have this family in the 1861 and 1871 census. In both 1881 and 1891 William is a widow so can only assume Harriet had died before 1881 census. Have not looked for Harriet in 1851 census yet, so don't know her parents. Like I said this is a very distant part of my tree and I can not remember quite how I got down this line - l follow lines of the families that marry into my lines and then the ones that marry into them - because sometimes this has led me back to one of my lines via a circle of inter-marriages. (hope this bit makes sense). 3. Hallo, Maybe I am teaching my grandmother to suck eggs - but I have just done a brief search on a commercial site: Victor Pearson was born Suffolk (Lowestoft) 3Q 1883, married 3Q 1910 East Preston at 1901 census was ??? engineer (great thick line across first word/s) 1911 census mill engineer fitter with wife - no children - married under one year I tried for Lancaster/Mills births - there are 5 pages for early 1911 and foreign births, but 2 genuine Lancaster Mills births in 1917 - I have no idea if either is right. But during the war, he could have worked anywhere and his wife might have gone with him - or to family or friends. Here goes Ernest R born Chorlton (Manchester) 4Q 1917 Violet A born 1Q 1917 Greenwich. I doubt that both could be theirs - though it is just possible if the first were a delayed registration. Then of course they could have had children abroad.... VPL died in Worthing in 1964 4Q aged 81. 3. I am doing an article for the next West Sussex Archive Society (WSAS) Journal upon the subject of identifying the victims of the Worthing typhoid epidemic of 1893. One of the victims was the Rev. Joseph LANCASTER, the first vicar of Holy Trinity, Worthing and I am trying to trace a descendant of him. Rev. LANCASTER married Eliza Mary PEARSON and had one child, Victor Pearson LANCASTER who married Ann Esther Alice Hilda MILLS in 1910 and both are now deceased. Now, I haven't been able to find any children of the couple, but I am told that either a descendant or a more distant relative does indeed exist and may be living in the Findon area. If anyone can help, please contact me. Best wishes, Marion Woolgar Bognor Regis, West Sussex

    3. Hi Everyone. Does anybody have any knowledge of the parentage of Elizabeth Bodle born in Eastbourne 9 July 1710? She married Thomas Hunt on the 5th October 1731 in Eastbourne. Her father would seem to be a John Bodle, and there are, seemingly two candidates. A John born 2 Feb 1680 ,and a John born 2 Oct 1682. I wonder if anybody could shed any light on this or indeed the Bodle family in general. My many thanks Rob Grey

The Observer's office in Bexhill still has paper copies - much nicer than microfilm. It is quite likely that your ancestor was buried or cremated at Hastings Cemetery.
