I haven't been in several years. My granfather was Eddie Franklin Surrency. I have requested info on joining DAR under Samuel DeSurrency's name. It has been difficult finding info as there are so many variations on this name... Some of the info that I came across from Marlboro County SC says that he was in the Regiment of Rangers. I can't find info about any battles or term served though. Any info that you have would be greatly appreciated. Tina Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I am trying to document Samuel Surrency with the DAR through Charlotte because it has not been done. There are several DAR memberships through brother Jacob. I have 1794 for Charlotte's birth but others list it as 1785. My mother was Iola Copeland, daughter of Stephen Wright Copeland, son of James Jackson Copeland, only son of Jesse Copeland and Charlotte Surrency. The Saucer info is fairly new to me and I had never heard of Ganeyville. I am also trying to connect Elizabeth Stafford Surrency to her father Joshua Stafford. On the Robinson line, my husband had a SAR membership based on relationship to James Robinson of the NC Militia, Pitt Co. NC, His maternal grandmother was Mary Esther Robinson who married John Henry Rambo. Mary Esther was the daughter of Noah Palmer Robinson and Harriet Elizabeth Clay. Noah was the son of James Robinson, Jr. and Easter O'Steen. Are any of these in your Robinson line? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I believe that the family must have proof in some form for her to be given a date of birth. Also, it is logical that Charlotte would name her daughter Sarah after her own closest sibling Sarah Surrency. Sarah named two of her children Allen and Wealthy Saucer. Allen Surrency was Charlotte's sibling, and Wealthy Robinson was his wife. Wealthy was the sister to my G-G-Grandmother Sabra Robinson. You might also be interested to know that Callie Hancock was the widow of Darling Driver before she became the second wife of Sarah's widowed husband William J. Saucer. This was located at the Appling/Tattnall Co. line. Her father is buried there. The cemetery was destroyed by logging companies before the laws started protecting these places of rest. Her daughter Sarah Copeland Saucer is probably buried in Columbia Co., FL. It appears that Sarah's husband William J. Saucer married a Callie Hancock or Hagan after Sarah's death. William J. Saucer obtained a Confederate pension in FL. Callie Saucer, his widowed second wife filed on him in FL after his death. The Surrencys living next to the Saucer in 1880 Ganeyville are stepmother and step siblings of my G-G-Grandfather. It makes me wondered whether the Hester Sasser who married his father may have been a Saucer as well. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I did find a 1900 census for Jesse M DeLoach and Carrie B DeLoach, but I am not sure they are yours. Jesse birthday is March 1876 and Carrie B.'s is July 1885. They had been married less than a year with no children. Next to them on the census page is Sarah DeLoach born June 1850 as head of household with son David A DeLoach born February 1880 and other children. I did look back at 1880 census and I found Sarah married to Asa DeLoach and Jesse was listed as Martin J. Deloach. You could try to get a death certificate for the Carrie M DeLoach you mentioned that died in 1934, but if she is buried next to David A. it is probably not your Carrie.

I can not find anything on Carrie. She was my GG Grandmother. Marriage records for Tattnall County GA shows Carrie M. SURRENCY & Jesse M. DeLoach on 05/24/1900. I do not know if Carrie passed away, or if she and Jesse divorced, but Jesse later married Minnie Varnedoe in Emanuel County, GA on 11/16/1913. They divorced. He then married Alma Brown in Emanuel County, GA on 10/21/1927. Jesse and Alma had 5 children. 1910 Tattnall County GA Census shows Jesse and Mary C along with their 4 children - Maude, Willi Jo, Sally Kate, and Edna. It says that Carrie was 24 years old. I have seen the name as Carrie, Mary Carrie and Carrie Mary! I have also heard the name Carrie Black. Beards Creek Cemetery in Tattnall County, GA is where Jesse and Alma DeLoach are buried. There is also a grave stone for a Carrie M. Deloach, 01/08/1887 - 03/26/1934. There has always been family rumors concerning Carrie. The older members of the family would never speak about her, includiing my grandmother. If anyone has ANY info on this person, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you - taylor50_140@yahoo.com
