SIMONS / SIMONDS; NC,USA > MS,USA; c. 1800-1844 I am looking for the family of Charles SIMONS. Charles was born c1844 in Mississippi. His parents were from North Carolina. There is a family story that Charles' siblings and parents were killed in a smallpox epidemic in the midwest. There is also folklore that Charles' father spelled the surname as SIMONDS. There is a family in the 1850 census for Chickasaw County, MS (household 535), which is a good match for Charles. The parents are Charles (age 47) and Martha (age 32) of NC. Children are Axe F. (13 F), William H. (12), Mary F. (10), Charley P. (6), Martha A. (4), John W. (3), and Benjamin T. (1). The eldest three children were born in AL. This is the only likely MS household shown in the census although they may have moved by then. Charles married in KS c1869 then moved on to TX where he died in 1896.
