HOBBE, Minna Wilhelmine; DEU > USA; 1891 Minna Wilhelmine HOBBE was born in Oberfrohna, Saxony, Germany June 11, 1861. There she married Carl WINKLER in 1886. Moved to USA in 1891 to New York City where they lived for about 1 year before moving to Prentice, WI. After 6 months they moved to Taylor county and settled on 40 acres of land west of Rib Lake, WI. Nine children were born to them, three died in infancy, one in Germany, one in NY, and one in Colby, WI. They bought the land near Rib Lake, WI in 1893. The surviving childrens names were: Lena, Rose, Hannah, Walter, William, and Alfred. SHe passed away after being illin bed for about a month. THe ailment which carried her away was chronic for several years but she carried on cheerfully and with her children managed to run her farm sincer her husband's death in 1929. She died 6/6/1932. Her obituaery states ......"Mrs. Winkler was a faithful wife, a kind mother and a helping hand to her neighbors and she was held in high esteem by all who knew her.
