ROWLANDSON; MA,USA/RI,USA; c 1600- Hi all!!!! I am in search for information regarding a Mary Rowlandson, who was married to a Congregational Minister (1st name unknown) back around the time of King Philip's War in the 1600's. Mrs. Mary Rowlandson was captured and kidnapped by Weetamoe, a Squaw Sachem for the Pocasset Tribe in the area of Tiverton (Pocasset) Rhode Island and Fall River, MA around 1677. Weetamoe was married to Alexander (Wamsutta) the brother of King Philip (also known as Metacomet) Mrs. Rowlandson was in captivity for about three months and made a slave to Weetamoe. Mrs. Rowlandson wrote a diary (or what was called a scribble) after her experiences. I am trying to get a hold of a copy of this manuscript and any relatives.
