    3. WINKLER, Carl; DEU > USA; 1891 Looking for information on Carl WINKLER. Born in Germany, possibly Oberfrohna, Saxony. Married Minna Wilhelmine HOBBE in 1886 at Oberfrohna, Saxony. Came to America in 1891 with two children and settled in New York City where they lived about a year and came to Colby, WI. to visit Minna's sister, Mrs. Boehm. THen they went back to New York CIty again and after a year or so they decided to cast their lot in northern WI and came to Prentice, WI. Six months later they moved to Taylor county and settled on 40 acres of land west of Rib Lake, WI. purchased from the Wisconsin Central Railroad. The WINKLERs bought this place sometime in 1893 and Carl worked in Shaw's tannery until it shut down. He lived on the farm until he passed away in January of 1929. Nine children were born to Carl and Minna: Three died in infancy, one in New York City, one in Germany, and one in Colby, WI. The others were Lena, Walter, William, Rose, Hannah, and Alfred. When they bought their land it was coveredwith timber. By hard work they cleared the land and about 1904 built a new house and a new barn. Prior to doing so they lived in a log home. ANY informaiton on Carl WINKLER and the three children that passed away in infancy would be greatly appreciated. Carl WINKLER would have been my Great Grandfather. He is buried in Rib Lake, WI. Thank you! Cindy Johnson reply to : cindyjohnson1@ameritech.net

    2. Sara Daggett
    3. DAGGETT / SMITH; IRL>WI,USA; 1840-1860 According to a Dane County, Wisconsin family history, Joseph DAGGETT came from Ireland to New York as a young man in the mid-1800's. Shortly thereafter he moved first to Rock County, Wisconsin, and then to Madison in Dane County, WI. He married Mary Smith, probably in Rock County. His children were Charles, Minnie, Robert, and Allan. I can't even locate the name DAGGETT in Ireland. I only find it as an English name. Even though the family and the county history swear he was Irish, could he really have been English? Thank you for any clues. ssd@ultra1.pitnet.net (Sara Daggett)

    3. OLIGNY; CAN>WI,USA; 1832- Hi everyone. Thanks again to all of you who have helped me in my search for Noah Oligny and his wife Marguerite Raymond. This was my first experience with a genealogy list serve, and I posted a note expecting to hear nothing. It didn't take long before I started to get your responses. You all surprised me with your kindness and generosity. In providing me with the names of the couple's parents and grandparents, I have been able to connect Noah (Noe) to many Oligny names--- aunts, uncles and cousins in St. Remi de Napierville. (So far no brothers and sisters - I haven't yet found a book of marriages for St. Louis de Gonzague in Beauharnois - any suggestions? Maybe I can get it through an interlibrary loan.) However, tonight while searching the internet, I discovered the family tree of Marguerite Raymond's maternal ancestors all the way back to the early 1600's in France and in England. It was quite exciting. If anyone wants information on the ancestors of Noe Oligny and Marguerite Raymond, or if you have information you would like to share, please contact me. Eventually, I will be uploading my family tree to a family tree maker web page. You can look for me there. Again, thanks everybody. SIncerely, Tanya Hein Madison, WI trhein@students.wisc.edu
