SWITZER, Cornelius; NY,USA; 1600-1655 Seek the family decendants of Cornelius Switzer who was killed in Nieu Amsterdam in 1655 by Indians on his Hudson River and 125th Street farm. He left a widow and at least 2 children who were baptised in the NYC Dutch Reformed Church in 1642, plus perhaps other decendants or relatives. At present it seems impossible to track the decendants into later years and children. It is known that numerous other Schweitzer/Switzer/Swisher families arrived in the years before the 1747 Henry of Albany Co. NY, and the various Switzer/Swisher's of Sussex Co. Knowlton Twp NJ about 1741-5. If these are connected in any provable way, it would be nice to know how. In any event, thank you for reading this far. John D. Sweitzer [email protected]

BIEGGER / LENTSCH; DEU> IA,USA; c. 1850 Hi, I'm new to the list.... I am researching the BIEGGER family - was told that John BIEGGER was born (in 1850) on a boat on his was to USA from Germany. I have not yet located the ship list. He married Mary NINEAU. Their son, Anton John BIEGGER was born in Livermore, Iowa in 1878. He married Katharine S. LENTSCH- {b. 1882} (parents Urban LENTSCH & Eva SCLUTZNER). At this time, I am assuming German heritage for most of them. Both families were settled in Livermore, Iowa at the time of Anton John BIEGGER and Katharine LENTSCH births. Was also told that it was not common for the German name to have 2-g's as in our spelling of BIEGGER - can anyone comment on this? Thank you... Kim [email protected]

Re: SNOW Sarah; MA,USA; 1760 Stu, There is a book called, "The Gray Family of Hancock County, Maine", 2d Edition, published in 1987; ed. by Almon A. Gray and Walter A. Snow, which I have at home (1400 miles away, unfortunately). It has mostly Grays and their relations, but Snows are prominent among them. I believe the same Walter Snow wrote a genealogy of the Snows, although I am not certain of that. You might try to locate the Gray book in a genealogy library, or through interlibrary loan. It is big, quite thorough and well annotated with sources. I bought it from Capt. Almon Gray, who was acquainted with my mother, Marjorie Gray, when she lived in Blue Hill, Maine. I think Almon lived near there. He may be deceased, now. From that book, I have in my data base two Snows: -- Joshua Snow, b. Feb 28, 1739, m. Mary Gray on Feb 28, 1739, Truro, Mass. He died Mar 23, 1825 in Sedgewick (Brooksville), ME. -- Elizabeth Snow, b. Oct 31, 1766, Truro, Mass, m. Nathaniel Gray abt. 1782. Died 1825. Good hunting. Ballynelligan is near Lismore, Waterford. For centuries it has been mainly associated with Cos. Cork and Kerry. Mulligan originally mostly found in Donegal, now in Mayo and Monaghan mostly. Hegarty is primarily found in the province of Ulster, which includes Donegal, also in Derry. Slan, Margaret [email protected]

Note : - St-Bernard is also in Beauce co. - Edmond spells without the ³e² at the end. If you put an ³e², it becomes a female name. - St-Honore is just south of Quebec city. Hope this helps, Salut ! EBERLING, Katherine; DEU>TX,USA; 1845 I'm looking for any information on August WOLFSHOHL or his wife Katherine EBERLING. Possibly were married in Dillenberg, Nassau, Germany between 1840-1843. They departed from Breman for Galveston, Texas aboard the Johanne Dethardt during the early fall of 1845.
