O'SHAUGHNESSY / PONSABY; Gilman, IL,USA; 1888 My grandmother, MARY ANNE O'SHAUGHNESSY immigrated from Derrybeg, Ireland to Gilman, Illinois in 1888. She stayed with her mother's married sister, Margaret ENNIS. When Margaret died in 1907, her obituary referred to her maiden name as PONSABY. We cannot understand why her maiden name wasn't the same as her sister, O'SHAUGHNESSY. Does anyone have any additional information that would help us solve this mystery? TURNER James; VA,USA; c 1785 Trying again. The posting rules are fierce. We're seeking further information in our TURNER line. We are pretty sure that the James Turner whose will is dated July 8, 1785 in Halifax County, VA is the right James Turner, father of our ancestor Ransom Turner. The names of his children appear often further down the line. In addition to Ransom, his will lists children: Armistead, Bazel(Boswell?), Abner, Mastain(Martin?), Fanny, Susannah, Elizabeth. No wife is named, but he names his brother William, "loving friend" Moses Turner, and friend Thomas Stanfield as executors. Will is witnessed by Thomas Turner, William Holt, Barnet Turner, and James Turner (a different one?) We would hope that some of the wills and deeds in Halifax county might help us move further up the line, but will welcome new data in any direction. "Jim Turner" <[email protected]>

They all originated from Ballyhaunis Co. Mayo. Many of them dissappeared from census reports and death reports over the years. I would assume that many of them left the country. Why don't you give me the names you have and I'll see if I can match any up. thanks, Jeff [email protected]
