O'SHAUGHNESSY Mary; IRL>IL,USA; 1888 My grandmother, Mary Ann O"SHAUGHNESSY departed Queensland, Ireland on July 11, 1888 on the vessel "City of Chester". She arrived in New York City on July 21, 1888. For reasons unknown to this writer, her name was shown on the passenger list as Mary ENNIS. (The name of her married aunt in Gilman, Illinois was Margaret ENNIS). Is there any specific reason that an Irish Immigrant would travel under another name? We believe that her aunt, Margaret ENNIS, may have purchased her ticket. Does anyone have a description of the vessel "City of Chester"? Would appreciate any assistance you can offer.
