DOWNEY, Jerry / DWYER, Margaret; IRL>MI,USA; 1840-1930 Cornelius, known as Jer or Jerry (1845-1910), was the son of Cornelius (1788-1882) Downey (Downing) and Margaret (1801-1895) Kelly Downey. Margaret Dwyer was born in Boffickil, Cork, IRL in 1843 or '46 of Robert O'Dwyer (~1795-1846) and Julia O'Sullivan (~1797-5/2/1891). The two were married in Hancock MI and moved to Hubbell MI. She died in Hubbell on January 10, 1930. They are buried in Mt Calvary Cemetery in Lake Linden, MI, with his parents. There are four other graves in the Downey lot: John Downey (1868-1927) Jeremiah Downey (1875-1909) Michael Downey (1880-1896) Julia Downey (1888-1909) These are probably children of Con and Margaret. Margaret's obituary, probably in the Daily Mining Gazette, probably dated Jan 10, 1930, states that there are five surviving children: Mary Downey, at home Martin (? rather illegible) Downey of Detroit Sister M. Angeline of Escanaba MI Timothy Downey of Caudora (?) IL Mrs. J. J. Card of Jackson MI There are possibly descendants in Peoria IL or Davenport IA. Supposedly there is at least one elderly female descendant still living. Margaret is the youngest of her siblings, and the only one we have so little information on. She was the sister of my great-grandfather John Dwyer. Anyone have any information on this family? Thanks in advance, Tom McGourin Tom McGourin <mcgourin@ix.netcom.com>
