    3. MCCALLION Michael; DON,IRL > NY,USA; 1879-1913 I want very much to obtain info re: my Grandfather, Michael J. Mccallion who was born approx. 1879 possibly Donegal. He emigrated to USa in 1911 and died in NYC in 1913. The ships manifest listed him as leaving from his mothers home in Garvey-Mullion, Leglands, Ireland. This name makes no sense whatsoever to me as my Grandmother always said he was from Strabane. I'm not sure how to proceed and what to do next-I plan a trip to Ireland in Oct 1998 and would like to have some groundwork done. I thank you again for your kindness and patience with me! ttc12652@taconic.net

My great-grandmother died in NY a few years after my grandmother's birth. My Great-grandfather returned to Ireland with my grandmother and possibly other children and lived on a Farm in Angrim with a relative named Nora Bailey. Any info. or suggestions on how to gain further info. would be appreciated. Birth/ Marriage records of Michael Cunningham & Mary Mannion. I am also interested in the local history of the area at the time my grandmother was there. Are there archives of old newspapers etc... Is there or was there a local newspaper in that area. My grandmother returned to the US when she was about 16. She died here in 1977 so I can't ask her these questions. Thank You. Tim thardima@nassau.cv.net

    3. CURTIS,Patrick; COR,IRL > NS,CAN; c.1800 As far as we can surmise, Patrick Curtis left (or was forced out of) Ireland around 1800. As the story goes, he was a tailors apprentice at the time. He was pressed into service, along with others, on a British "man of war" vessel. Others on board in a similar situation were Jeremiah Donovan and John Robinson. The ship, eventually the landed in Nova Scotia, Canada where the managed elude the captors and settle in the remote fishing village of Ingonish, Co. Victoria. From what we have uncovered, Patrick had eight children or more children. Henry, who move to MASS,USA, to layter become a commander with the Dollar Steamship Lines. Patrick, John, Lawrence, George, Jeremiah, William (Great Grand Father), Alice and two or more other daughters, most or all of whom, remained in Ingonish. Any assistance will be gratefully accepted.
