    1. ROONEY Patrick; DUB,IRL; -1837

    3. ROONEY Patrick; DUB,IRL; -1837 I'm interested in Patrick ROONEY, a Dublin tanner, who died c1851-55 in his native Dolphin's Barn (southern Dublin). Around 1837 he had married Anne VERSCHOYLE who descended from a longtime Dublin family, then 8 children ensued: James (1839- <1891), Susannah (1841-?), Anne Christina (1842-1935), Mary D'Arcy (1844-1917), Julia (1846-1907), Patrick Jnr (1848-1920), Agnes Mary (1850-1933), and Henry D'Arcy (1851-1929). Most of these children joined their mother in emigrating to Melbourne after 1867, where the family tannery business eventually resumed. Patrick Snr's wedding record, and all earlier references to him, have evaded detection. Can anybody assist? Criostoir Ó Riain (Melbourne, Australia) e-mail: finn@netlink.com.au Irish "nut", fulltime dad, convalescent genealogist. 3. KANE Ellen; IRL>AUS; -1860 I'm interested in Ellen KANE. A mystery woman indeed, my gr gr grandmother Ellen most likely emigrated from Ireland to Australia in the 1840s/1850s (although there's a *slim* chance she was instead born in Aus. and had emigrant parents). With her [perhaps second?]husband Thomas John RYAN she had at least two children in Sydney in the 1860s: Thomas b. 27/8/1862 and Mary b. c1866 It's very little to go on! Can anybody assist? 1. FINN / GRIFFIN; KER,IRL; -1834
    2. Criostoir O Riain
    3. FINN / GRIFFIN; KER,IRL; -1834 I'm interested in Thomas FINN and Margaret GRIFFIN (or their families) of Co. Kerry. Their children included my gr gr grandfather - also named Thomas Finn (c1834-1911). Thomas Jnr, your typical red-headed Irish farmer, emigrated ca 1860s to Australia (although oral history suggests he may have come via the Nth America) where in April 1866, "outback", he wed Margaret BRUGGY, of Clare. He lived out his days in the northern districts of New South Wales, leaving a son (again Thomas Finn) and several daughters. 1830s Kerry showed clusters of FINN families in the *west* of the county, and today many remain in parts of the Dingle Peninsula and elsewhere in west Kerry; but this indirect evidence is my only clue to further localising and identifying my FINN & GRIFFIN ancestors. Can anybody assist? Criostoir Ó Riain (Melbourne, Australia) e-mail: finn@netlink.com.au Irish "nut", fulltime dad, convalescent genealogist.
