    3. WARD, Bryant; IRL; 1700-1740 Bryant Ward came to the states in the early 1740s. Some think he came with the British army but this is not confirmed. He had a wife named Elizabeth or Anne but she did not come to the states (some said she was deceased.) They found records of he and Edward Ward Jr. filed land claims in Bladen County, NC. In 1764, John Ward (Bryant's son) came to the states looking for his father. I know most of what happened to Bryant and John in the states but would like any information on where in Ireland they originated from or any information you can give me. I have looked at ship records and couldn't find Bryant Ward anywhere (which might confirm the British army story. Bryant settled in North Carolina and later lived in Georgia. Bryant was nicknamed "the old trader" because he traded with the Native Ameicans. Any info is appreciated. 3. DAVIS-HALL; DUB,IRL; c. 1800 Hi My ancestor JOHN DAVIS-HALL, carpenter and probably circus worker, had a daughter ELIZABETH HELEN HALL who was said to be an Irish actress from Dublin. However according to the census she was born at Cirencester Gloucestershire c 1830 so it may have been her father JOHN DAVIS-HALL who was the one from Dublin. His wife's name not known. ELIZABETH HELEN married HENRY JOHN WALLETT, actor, in Blackburn in 1850. She was missing from the 1881 census although her husband HENRY WALLETT was still given as married and her death in England has not been found. Did she go back to Ireland? Any information on the DAVIS-HALL family would be appreciated Julie jued.lay@cableinet.co.uk

    3. MOYLAN, Catherine; IRL>WI,USA; 1867-1948 I am attempting to trace my gmother's family. She was born in 1867 to William MOYLAN and Mary COLIGNAN (mother's name not certain, obtained from my gmother's wedding certificate and not completely legible). She had six siblings: Mary, William, Edward, Elizabeth, Margaret, and James. We believe she may have been born in County Clare and came to the U.S. via Cork. She married Richard John OGLE in Ashland, Wisconsin in 1898 and lived there until her death in 1948. Several of her siblings also came to the U.S. Edward lived in Detroit, MI in 1906. Mary also lived in Detroit and her married name was Winell. William, we believe, lived in MA. James, at some point, made his way to Alaska and back. Elizabeth wrote to my gmother from Walden, MA in 1900. We have some unlabeled portraits taken at the Chas. N. Denault Studio in Watertown, MA. I'm relatively new at the methods of genealogy and would appreciate any clues that might help me along in my search. Thanks Hansenjl <Hansenjl@aol.com>

    3. CONNER / CONNOR Laurence; Dublin,IRL; 1750-1774 Hi All, Could anybody point me in the direction to get information on the following? James Murphy Laurence Conner was baptised on 5 April 1752 at Church of St. Catherine of Alexandria Meath Street, Dublin 8 Archdioces of Dublin with Sponsors listed of Tom Gulgher and Jane Read A Laurence Conner came to the U.S. either in October 1769 or May of 1770 on the brig FANNY under Captain Richard Taylor when Fielding Lewis of Spotsylvania County Virginia imported 82 indentured servants. A Lawrence Conner arrived in Philadelphia on May 13, 1773 on a ship from Dublin commanded by Captain Alexander Cain. Lawrence Conner is the name used by my ancestor but there are references including the Baptismal Record to Laurence. I'm not concerned with the time after he arrived in the U.S. I'm trying to go backwards from here. We have a complete genealogical record from present until then. Any help is greatly appreciated. Email or reply via group. 3. DOWNEY, Jerry / DWYER, Margaret; IRL>MI,USA; 1840-1930 Cornelius, known as Jer or Jerry (1845-1910), was the son of Cornelius (1788-1882) Downey (Downing) and Margaret (1801-1895) Kelly Downey. Margaret Dwyer was born in Boffickil, Cork, IRL in 1843 or '46 of Robert O'Dwyer (~1795-1846) and Julia O'Sullivan (~1797-5/2/1891). The two were married in Hancock MI and moved to Hubbell MI. She died in Hubbell on January 10, 1930. They are buried in Mt Calvary Cemetery in Lake Linden, MI, with his parents. There are four other graves in the Downey lot: John Downey (1868-1927) Jeremiah Downey (1875-1909) Michael Downey (1880-1896) Julia Downey (1888-1909) These are probably children of Con and Margaret. Margaret's obituary, probably in the Daily Mining Gazette, probably dated Jan 10, 1930, states that there are five surviving children: Mary Downey, at home Martin (? rather illegible) Downey of Detroit Sister M. Angeline of Escanaba MI Timothy Downey of Caudora (?) IL Mrs. J. J. Card of Jackson MI There are possibly descendants in Peoria IL or Davenport IA. Supposedly there is at least one elderly female descendant still living. Margaret is the youngest of her siblings, and the only one we have so little information on. She was the sister of my great-grandfather John Dwyer. Anyone have any information on this family? Thanks in advance, Tom McGourin Tom McGourin <mcgourin@ix.netcom.com>
