    1. MCCARTHY; COR,IRL; 1830-1910
    2. Elizabeth W. Knowlton
    3. MCCARTHY; COR,IRL; 1830-1910 Looking for information on family of Mary Rogers McCarthy, resident of Glantane (outside of Mallow), Co. Cork, and Peter Foley (Church of Ireland minister born in Kerry) who married in Kilshannig Church in the District of Mallow, Diocese of Cloyne (Church of Ireland) Co. Cork, 2 April 1853. I have the parish record of the marriage. Mary had a father named William McCarthy, a schoolmaster, who may have witnessed the marriage, and it was also witnessed by a John McCarthy. Mary was born in Co. Cork about 1831 and died 9 October 1897 in Ballycastle, Co. Mayo, where she is buried in St. John's (C of I) churchyard with her husband. However, older family members remembered that she taught school with her one or two sisters before marriage in, they said, Kinsale. We believe it might have been Kilshannig. One sister named Eleanor continued to teach school in Co. Cork and lived until around 1910. Other Kilshannig records name people such as William Rogers McCarthy, Eleanor McCarthy, Rachel McCarthy, and Rebecca Winspeare McCarthy, whom I believe to be related to my family. The Foley couple named their children William Malcolm (Malachi), Alfred Peter, Eleanor Agnes, Arthur Winspeare, Mary Gibson, Thomas Winspeare, and Anna Elizabeth, most of whom died in infancy. Please reply about McCarthys in Co. Cork only--that's a big enough group! Elizabeth Winspeare Knowlton KnowltonEW@compuserve.com

    3. O'SHAUGHNESSY Mary; IRL>IL,USA; 1888 My grandmother, Mary Ann O"SHAUGHNESSY departed Queensland, Ireland on July 11, 1888 on the vessel "City of Chester". She arrived in New York City on July 21, 1888. For reasons unknown to this writer, her name was shown on the passenger list as Mary ENNIS. (The name of her married aunt in Gilman, Illinois was Margaret ENNIS). Is there any specific reason that an Irish Immigrant would travel under another name? We believe that her aunt, Margaret ENNIS, may have purchased her ticket. Does anyone have a description of the vessel "City of Chester"? Would appreciate any assistance you can offer. 1. GALLERY; ARM,NIR; 1702-1749
    2. Mary Timmons
    3. GALLERY; ARM,NIR; 1702-1749 I am seeking information pertaining to the GALLERY family that lived in the area of Lurgan, County Armagh, Northern Ireland during the 1700's and beyond. Is GALLERY a true Irish name? Griffiths Valuation 1864, shows GALLERY listed in the Magheralin and Shankill Parishes and GALLEY in the Parishes of Seagoe and Shankill all parishes of the Oneilland East Barony. To date, I have only the following; Sarah of my husbands TIMMONS family line and Mary whose relationship if any, is still unknown. Sarah TIMMONS, daughter of George and Mary TURNER TIMMONS, born 1702 in Clonbrazill, Lurgan; have reference to her as Sarah GALLERY still living in Lurgan in 1756. Would like to find her husband, their family, etc. Sarahs birth is recorded in the Lurgan Quaker Monthly Meeting Register but there is no mention of her marriage. The only reference I have to Mary is from a Public Record Office of Northern Ireland, Personal Name Index, that merely states; Mary GALLERY, Lurgan, County Armagh 1745-1749, Quaker Marriage. I have searched all Quaker MM Register films available through the LDS Library here and have not been able to locate anything referencing Sarah or Mary or for that matter any other person by the name of Gallery. Would be happy to hear from anyone with the names GALLERY and TIMMONS in their family lines. Thank you, Mary Timmons <weguys@c2i2.com>
