SCHMEHL Carl August; DEU; c. 1881 Looking for Carl August Schmehl b. abt Aug 27, yr unknown born in Hanover, Germany d. 21 Feb 1881 in Killinghausen, Germany married: Catherine (last name unknown) They had about 9 children. I have information on only 2 of them. 1. Albert Schmehl b. abt 1840 in Germany He came to the United States abt 1860. He returned to Germany after the Civil War here in the United States. After returning to Germany, he lived around Bonn, Germany. He had several children all born in Germany. Albert never returned to the United States as far as I know. 2. Friedrick (Frederick) Schmehl Born in Hanover or Killinghausen, Germany Friedrick stayed in the United States and raised his family. Any help locating this family would be greatly appreciated.
