PETERS, Heinrich Christian Friedrich; DEU>NY,USA; 1884 I am researching the following surnames PETERS & BUCHLER My great-great-grandfather, Heinrich Christian Friedrich Peters (aka. Henry Ahrenhold) (b. 27 Jul 1863 - d. 1956) came to America through NYC on 5 Oct 1884. According to family history, he was born and raised in Pretz, Kr. Kiel, Holstein, Germany. His mother's name was Louisa BUCHLER, and he had at least 2 siblings, Constance and Gustav. Supposedly, sometime after Henry's birth his father, ? Peters, died (or left), and Louisa remarried Heinrich AHRENHOLD. While growing up, Henry took the last name of his stepfather as his own, but apparently was never formerly adopted. Although I have never seen it, his passport apparently had the surname of PETERS on it (again according to family history), but he used the name AHRENHOLD while in the U.S., as did all of his children.
