SCHUMACHER, Christian; DEU>TX,USA; 1860 I'm trying to located information on my great grandfather, Christian SCHUMACHER, born 9 Feb 1845 in Germany. He immigrated from Germany via Nova Scotia through Indianola, Texas to Hondo, Texas for a couple of years and then on to Hunt, Kerr County, Texas arriving in the mid-1860s. He remained there until his death on 20 November 1917. He married Elizabeth Leinweber in 1859 and had 7 or more children (Lillie, Ida Mary, Will Christian, Henry Franklin, Lena, Tillie, and Bertha Schumacher). He married Sarah Brazeal Sublet Hornbuckle Freeman in 1888 and had one child, John Randolph Schumacher. I've been unable to learn anything about Christian's parents or siblings. J. WIEMER, Helena; Gamshurst,BAD,DEU>New Orleans,LA,USA; 1832-1852 I'm seeking information about Helena WIEMER, born 21 May 1832 in Gamshurst, Baden, to parents Wendelin WIEMER and Symphorosa METZINGER. She emigrated from Gamshurst 6 Dec 1851 in the company of Anton Herrmann, a young bachelor from Ottersweier, arriving on the Minnesota (from Havre) at the port of New Orleans on 3 February 1852. If you have information on where Helena and/or Anton may have settled, please write to me with the information at mschwitz@airmail.net. WIEMER, Fabian; Gamshurst,BAD,DEU>Cincinnati,OH,USA; 1843-1880 I'm seeking information on the following family: Fabian WIEMER b. 1842/43 in Baden sp. Mary (maiden name unknown) b. 1842/43 in Bayern | +- Emma | b. 1872/73 in Ohio, USA +- Charles | b. 1875/76 in Ohio, USA +- Matilde b. 1878/79 in Ohio, USA According to the 1880 U.S. census, Fabian was occupied as a saloon keeper (ostensibly at 627 Central Avenue, 5th Ward, Cincinnati, Ohio, since the enumeration also lists 11 boarders at the address). I suspect that this may be the same Fabian WIEMER, born 31 Jan 1843 in Gamshurst, Baden, to Wendelin WIEMER and Symphorosa METZINGER, and who emigrated from Gamshurst 9 Aug 1854 to USA with his mother and five siblings. However, I haven't uncovered enough information to support or disprove this, as yet. In the absence of an index to the 1900 census, I have been unable to locate the above family in the 1900 Cincinnati census enumeration, which would provide Fabian's immigration date. At least one of Fabian's sisters (Elisabeth) is known to have settled in Cincinnati, where she married Leo Bernard MAYER. The family lived at various times in Cincinnati and across the Ohio River at Ft. Thomas, Kentucky. Another sister (Monika) married Frank STEINBACH and ended up in Carroll Co., Ohio, although she may have settled briefly in the Cincinnati area, as well. The mother, Symphorosa, and the other three siblings are unaccounted for. If you have information about Fabian or any of his family, please write to me at mschwitz@airmail.net.
