Re: WEBER, George; DEU > St. Louis, MO,USA; 1880 Georg Weber arrives in St. Louis, sometime around 1880. His occupation is as a blacksmith, and he appears to be working for a wagon maker. Then, he seems to be naturalized in 1889. He has 4 wifes, the first wife, Maria Kissenger, appears to have come from Manheim. Too many George Webers in Germans to America.(GTA)..I guess, but there is one, from an unknown village near Manheim...and I am hoping someone knows about him, or if someone doing research in and about Mannheim of a Weber family of that era, might drop me a note ? Or if you can claim a particular George Weber out of the 4 listed in 1880, drop me a note and tell me which one is yours? yes...I am getting a bit discouraged. HOEFLER; BAY,DEU>New York City,NY,USA; 1820-1920 Although the surname of this line died out in 1995, there should still be many descendants of Leonard Hoefler (1822-1884) and Kunigunda Bauer (1823-1882) who immigrated to NYC from Nuremberg, Bavaria, around 1850. Their daughter Magdalena (married Braun? and moved to California) came with them. Born in New York were George, Miriam (m. Jeremiah Griffin), Emma (m. George Hudson), Mathilda (m. Charles Smith/Schmit), Franklin, Olga, and Martha (m. Frank Young). Leonard was a shoemaker on Columbia Street on the Lower East Side (building now demolished). As the children bettered themselves, they gradually moved to Brooklyn in the general German-American migration pattern. Most of them married in Protestant churches. I am descended from the Smiths' adopted daughter and have located descendants of Emma, Franklin, and Martha. Would like to share my work with any other descendants. Elizabeth W. TUXEN; DEU; 1550- Tuxen is an old family name originating from the region around Flensburg i Schleswig. My ancestor is a rector Lorenz Tuxen (dead 1612) in Solt, about 6 miles South of Flensburg. He is said to have had 3 sons, Lorenz Tuxen (his successor, dead 1635), Tucke Tuxen and Peter Tuxen (dead 1683), a vicar in Oester Egesborg in Denmark. Peter Tuxen has more than 2000 descendants of which most are living in Denmark. A number emigrated to USA, Canada, Autralia and Argentina though. I am interested in learning about German branches of the family too. I know of a branch that emigrated to USA from Flensburg to USA in the early 20th century, but I do not know of their heritage. There are several spellings of the name: Tuxen, Tüxen (Tuexen), Tychonis (particularly the priests) and Tuchsen. Tuchsen is also the name of a family from Pommern which (to my knowledge) is unrelated to mine. I have some information about a number of descendants of this family, mainly in Norway, should someone have an interest. ************************************************* * Jan Tuxen Kongshoej Alle 23 * * Phone (+45) 65 32 46 22 DK-5300 Kerteminde * * jantuxen@post4.tele.dk DENMARK * *************************************************
