STGEORGE Joseph / NEVUE Caroline; CAN > MI,USA > OH,USA > MN,USA; 1839-1943 Jospeh St.George born 1839 (Canada?). Died 27 May1898 in Duluth, MN USA. Caroline Nevue born 21 March 1848 in Canada. Died 8 November 1943. Couple married in 1863. Death notices and news-clippings suggest the following route of resisencies: Canada to Bay City, MI USA(ca.1864) to Cleveland, OH USA( - ca.1870) to Duluth, MN USA(ca.1870). Joseph was a Great Lakes ship builder. I know his son specialized in keel construction. Could Joe Sr. have passed this craft on to his son? The couple had 18 children: Mary(b. 1864 Michigan), Joseph(b. 1867 Micigan), Mary Jane(b. 1869 Duluth), Elizabeth(b. 1870 Duluth), Flimon Caroline, Emerence, Mary Louise, Emma, Eli Fred, George, Peter Phillip, Theophile, Agnes, Joseph Edward, Annie, Agnes Marcelline, Jerome Fred, Arthur Joseph Alexander. I have a letter from the National Archives - Great Lakes Region with naturalization record information which I believe to be for Joseph. It states the following: Joseph St.George Vol. "A" - P. #2 USDC-5th Div.-Duluth, MN From: Great Britain-Ireland Nat:5/11/1897 Wit: Cleophas Tremblay & Joseph Couture [location: 922550] Joseph, my second great grandfather, is the oldest known St.George in my line of St.George ancestry. Caroline is the oldest known Nevue in my ancestry. I am in search of any information on either of these names. And if any one can explain why someone from Canada would be noted as being from Great Britain-Ireland in US naturalization records. I have some information on their descendants and the Tessier ancestry of Caroline Nevue. Thank You. Michael St.George (612) 602-9399 809 Portland Ave. Apt.6 St.Paul, MN 55104 jhtps1@worldnet.att.net
