It also appears that this surname has died out in my direct line as the only son born never married and had no children. This is what I do know: Bernard MOFFATT b. Ireland abt 1822 Married Mary Ryan location unknown Children born throughout the 1860's in Canada unconfirmed but possibly in Mara Township (Ontario/Simcoe Co.) they are: Mary Moffatt - married Peter McCann - no children died abt 1934 in Peterborough Ann Moffatt - no information Thomas Moffatt - b. 1860 never married, buried in Brechin Ont, died 1944 Hanora Moffatt - b. 1866 " " " " " died 1958 Bridget Moffatt b. 1869 married Andrew Higgins in 1898 in NYState. Ellen Moffatt married James McElroy - 2 children, Tom & Anna Bernard MOFFATT died 22, Jun 1922 in Brechin Ontario and buried in St. Andrews R.C. cemetery Brechin. It would have made their crossing from IRL between 1844 and 1850. I do not know where in IRL the lived or shipped over from. In both the 1861 and 1871 census, they show to have been in Plantagenet Twp. Family history says that Patrick drowned in the S. Nations River in late 1866 or early 1867. Married Rosalie LeMay from Trois-Riviers Quebec. Has any anyone come across a Napoleon Manseau - born about 1860 in Disreali Quebec, or Rosalie LeMay born about 1870 in Trois-Riviers Quebec? Any information would be appreciated. A Napoleon Manseau is listed as a printer in 1890 Montreal. Could ther be that many Napoleons ?
