    3. BLACK David / PORTER Jane; ARM,NIR > ON,CAN; -1847 David Black and Jane Porter of Tullyallen Presbyterian Church, living in Mountnorris, County Armagh emigrated to Ontario, Canada in 1847. Both were born about 1805-1808. I have no record of their marriage. From land records I think they rented land in Charlemont estates. They sailed on the ship "Constitution" 21 April 1847 and landed at Grosse Isle 8 June. Accompanying them were four children, William John b 1840, Hanna Jane b 1842, Elizabeth b 1844 and Sarah b 1846 or 47. Sarah died on the way to Canada. I would appreciate any information available about this family when they lived in Ireland. I have them well documented after they came to Canada. Thank you. 2. GLASSUP George; ENG > ON,CAN; 1800 Searching for information on George Glassup married to Ann (surname unknown). Was a Corporal in the Royal Artillery. Came to Canada c 1800 and was stationed in Kingston Ontario. Died in 1807 leaving his wife and 5 children. Is anyone else searching this name? George's only son Thomas (my gg grandfather) had 10 children - 7 daughters survived to adulthood, hence the surname has died out. I have followed my line(s) of the family down to present day and am willing to share. But am at a loss to make the English link - have found no pertinent information on LDS CD ROM. There was a James Hay who was granted land in 1810 on the Bartibog River (across the bay from Chatham, NB). A Thomas Carroll (unknown if related to me) bought that lot (#4, 200 acres) in 1812 from James for 25 pounds. I have recorded a few Hay baptisms and marriages. However, Barbara Jane Hay, being born in 1882, is rather late. If any of this data is interesting, let me know. ------- Joe Carroll_Joe@htc.honeywell.com

    3. BAKER; USA>ON,CAN; 1830- I'm looking for descendants of Miller BAKER and his wife Annie Maria McWAIN or McILLWAIN. Also I'd very much like to know where in the U.S. Miller BAKER came from. Oral family history says he came from Philadelphia but no-one has any documentation to back that up. He came to Canada before 1839. That's when he and Annie were married in Hastings County, Ontario. They lived the rest of their lives in Belleville, Ontario. According to the 1871 Belleville census he was born in the U.S. (no helpful place name or even state unfortunately) circa 1802. Annie was born circa 1810 in Canada (again, not very helpful for further research). Even her name is "up for grabs". The two most used versions are McWAIN and McILLWAIN. But I've also seen McELLWAIN and even McGUAIN. If anyone has common ancestry with this couple I'd be more than happy to hear from you. Happy New Year to everyone.
