HENDERSON; Perth Co, ON,CAN; 1800- Looking for information on the Henderson family of Perth County, Ontario, Canada and the various decendants this depicts. Specifically I am seeking to make contact with the decendants of the brothers and sisters of my ggfather as outlined below. If this is of interest you may view more details at our genealogy home page -- http://web2.airmail.net/bhende19/mastgene.htm and communicate with me at -- BHende19@mail.airmail.net ----------- For this, the earliest Henderson in our line, we have a very large quantity of unknown information, but the good news is that we now know several pieces of key data which are the starting point for our search work. John Henderson Sr., b 1814 in Dumfrieshire, Scotland, d 15 June 1876 in Elma Township, Perth County, Ontario, Canada. John was married to Jannett THOMPSON. From the census information we have learned that her birth date was c 1815 and that she was born in Ireland, but that is all we know. The date and place of the marriage between John and Jannett is unknown. They had 6 children all of whom were born in Perth County, Ontario. John, the oldest, is in our direct Henderson line. Several of the members of this family, including John and Jannett, are buried in the Elma Centre Cemetery, Perth County, Ontario. John and Jannett are in Row 12/14. In the same plot is their son Robert, who died at an early age. Their children are: 1. John Henderson, b 1844 - Married Margaret Boyle - See Generation F discussion on this page. 2. Robert Henderson, b 1847, d 22-Mar-1876 in Elma Township, Ontario and is buried in the same plot as the mother and father at Elma Centre Cemetery. No further information 3. Alexander Henderson, b 1849, d 14-Oct-1919 - Married Hannah Barnett b c 1855 and died 28-Jan-1942. She and Alexander are buried in the Elma Centre Cemetery. - No further information 4. Margaret Henderson, b 1851 - No further information 5. Peter B. Henderson, b 1852, d 1939 - Married Jessie Lang - Peter is buried in the Elma Centre Cemetery, Elma Township, Ontario, Canada. Jessie was born in 1859, place unknown, and died in 1943 in Elma Township, Ontario. Both are buried in the Elma Centre Cemetery. By a stroke of luck we may have located Jessie Lang's mothers death record in 1919 in Toronto. We are in the process of checking this our. Do not know why Peter used the middle initial or what it represents. No further information 6. Thomas Henderson, b c 1860 - No further information We have no fix on the time of arrival in Canada or the route from Scotland to Canada. In short, we have a lot of interesting research left to do. We did find a large group of John and his wife's children we all buried in a single cemetery in Elma Township, Perth County, Ontario, Canada. But we also located a lot of other Henderson's whom we could not place. Perhaps they John's brothers or sisters who came to Canada at the same time he did and these are their children. We are sill investigating this item. Generation F - John Henderson The earliest Henderson for whom we have any detailed knowledge at this time is John Henderson. John was married to Margaret Boyle. We located the marriage record for John (Jr.) and Margaret Boyle. It reads - "Henderson, John, 23, Grey, Canada, married 26 June 1868, Margaret Boyle, 16, Elma (Twp), Perth Co., Canada, dau. of John Boyle." [1858-1869 Marriage Register of Ontario, Book 17 Page 51]. From this we learned two things (1) John was born or raised in Grey County, and (2) he was marring a girl (literally) from Perth County. So we tracked the 1871 Census in Elma Twp, Perth Co. and located the family of Boyle who were 'missing' a 18 year old. Then we noticed that only a few houses away was a family of Henderson's - John, Margaret and a child John. Bingo - we believe these are two of the families we were looking for -- Margaret parents and brothers and sisters and Margaret herself in her new role as wife and mother. According to the 1871 census of Ontario, Canada, John was born in Ontario c 1844, was of Scottish heritage, of the Westlian Methodist faith and was indicated to be a farmer. His wife, Margaret Boyle, was born in 1852 in Ontario, was of Irish heritage, and was also of the W. Methodist faith. The census indicates there was one child, John age 2. [1871 Census of Ontario District 30 (Perth Co.) Sub-district C (Elma Twp); Division 5 page 18 lines 3, 4 and 5] We also searched the Birth records for Perth County and found a Margaret Alice Henderson born on 23-August-1875. This would be the sister of my grandfather John B. Henderson. John and Margaret are buried in xxx cemetery in xxx, Ontario, Canada. Generation E. There were at least two children from this marriage. We are still researching the family line as they do not appear in the 1881 census of Ontario where we would expect the family to show up. The known children are: 1. Margaret Alice Henderson born 23-August-1875, in Seaforth, Perth County, Ontario, Canada. We know nothing more than this at this time. We have no explanation for the given names of this child. 2. John B. Henderson born 5-Aug-1869 son of John Henderson and Margaret Boyle who was a farmer in Elma Twp., Perth County, (near Seaforth), Ontario, Canada. We do not know the significance of the middle initial "B" at this time although it is suggested that it may be "Boyle, Bradford or Black". John B. Henderson died in Detroit, Michigan at the home of his daughter Dorothy Yates on 4-May-1942 and is buried in the Evergreen Cemetery, Detroit, Michigan. John B. Henderson married Hannah May Hall born in 1870 in Blenheim, Ontario, Canada. They had three children all of whom were born in or near Detroit, Michigan. Their Ontario marriage registration # 005846, reads "John B. Henderson 27 years, lives in Detroit, Michigan, born Elma Twp., Perth Co. bookkeeper, son of John and Margaret (Boyle) Henderson, Presbyterian Married 27-Sep-1895 to Hannah May Hall 24 years, lives and was born in Harrick, daughter of Robert and Annie (Wiles) Hall. Whit. G.M. Dixon, Chicago and Mabel Hall of Harwich Methodist." John and Hannah immigrated to the USA during 1895 on the Windsor Ferry. John filed his papers to indicate intention to become a US Citizen in October of 1896. He did receive his citizenship in 1899 from the Court in Detroit, Wayne Co. Michigan. No papers were found specifically for Hannah May although at that time she may have become a citizen by default. At a later date we will research this point specifically. From the US census of 1920 we have learned that John, Hannah and the three children, Ernest (Ernie), Dorothy and Marion lived in a rented house at xxx Third Street in Detroit where he was reported to be a Chief Clerk at a Railway office. Ernie who was about 24 at that time was reported to be a Clerk at a Railway office. At the house there were three borders as well who were not related to the family and did not appear in any family records that have been uncovered to date. We also know of an address (confirmed by an address book) at xxx Clarendon, Detroit where the family lived during some part of the 1920-1935 period. It is not yet clear if they owned the house or not. Both John B. and Hannah May both died in Detroit and are buried in the Evergreen Cemetery. At the time of their death they lived on Schoolcraft Road in an apartment above a drugstore. John's death certificate indicates that at the time of death he worked at the Michigan Tag Co. in Detroit. We have some pictures of these John and Hannah taken in the early 1900s and also a family picture of John, Hannah, Ernie, Dorothy and Marion from about the 1910 or 1915 era. henpop@herald.infi.net

LAMBERT Martha; ON,CAN; 1900 Hello, I am looking for information on the LAMBERT family who were located in the Wainfleet township of Welland county of Ontario around 1900. Hanson GRACEY married Martha LAMBERT and had a child, Alice Helen Gracey, on March 28, 1905. Alice Gracey was my Grandmother. This information is based on her Alice's birth registration. The information that I have heard is that both Hanson and Martha were killed in a horse and buggy accident when my Grandmother was 2 years old, (approx 1907). Alice was then adopted by the HUNTER family and brought up in Grey County. I also understand that Hanson and Martha had other children who were also adopted out to other families. I would like to find out something about Hanson and Martha and their families. My next step is to find their marriage certificate and hopefully identify their parents. If you know of any information that could help me in this search, please let me know. -- Regards, Larry Grasby, Oshawa, Ontario, Canada EMAIL address - lgrasby@osha.igs.net Homepage - http://www.osha.igs.net/~lgrasby/index.htm

FOWLER Walter; ENG > Toronto ON,CAN; 1918-1927 Walter Fowler was my mother's uncle - her father's (Tom Fowler's) brother. He migrated to Canada, from Birmingham, England, I believe between 1918 and 1927. He visited England once when I was a small boy. I believe he died in the late 60's. The family had no real contact with him, but I am interested to find out if he left any descendants. I don't know whether he married, nor do I know what he did for a living. Anyone know any Fowlers ? stephen.waring@virgin.net

BAILEY; KID,IRL>ON,CAN; c. 1828 John BAILEY ( ~1773-1858) emigrated from Co. Kildare to Lanark County, Ontario, Canada, ~1828, with his daughter Dorthea (~1809-1894). I have no information about ancestors, spouse, or other children. John settled on a farm next to Samuel BAILEY, who had arrived in 1813 from Co. Tyrone, implying possible Tyrone connections for John. Dorthea married Samuel's son, John BAILEY (1814-1870), so the relationship between John and Samuel is unlikely to be close (at least I hope so!). Another BAILEY, Edward, (1800-1867) emigrated to Lanark from Castledermot Parish, Co. Kildare, in 1830. His father was likely James BAILEY (d.1820). Both branches of BAILEYS left for Lambton County, Ontario, in the 1850's and 1860's. Family lore says there is a relationship between Edward/Samuel/John, but it is not established. Does anyone have any information about BAILEYS from Kildare? Has anyone run into any Kildare BAILEYS who might be connected to these ones? Thank you. DEMINK J.P. / DE MINK J.P.; CAN; 1600-1900 Hello rooters, happy New Year to everyone!! My name is Roel de Mink/DeMink, living in the Netherlands and looking for lost family and ancestors. I'm searching for "de Mink" /"DeMink" relatives. Is there anyone who could do a lookup for me on a J.P. DeMink, CD 118 Canadian Genealogical Index 1600-1900. Any other information about this family is welcome. I still can't find the link; who of my (?) family migrated at first and when. I do know that there are DeMink's and de Mink's in Michigan USA, but that's all there is so far. They do not seem to know anything, only the "story" that they came from France to Canada before migrating to the USA. Many thanks, Roel de Mink; rademink@pi.net
