LJUNGREN; SK,CAN; 1927 Researching for a friend.... Looking for information about the ANKER JOHANNESSEN (SON) LJUNGREN family. Perhaps a listing in the Saskatchewan telephone directory might have relatives. If someone would be so kind, appreciate a lookup of all Ljungren listed. Based on the story below, YOUNGBLUD and OLSEN, particularly in Arcola, would also be helpful. My friends states: My mothers uncle, came to Canada in 1927, and we have been trying for some years to find him or his family. Anker Ljungren (Johannessen), born 27.03.1906 from, stre Toten Norway, immigrated to Arcola, Saskatchewan, Canada 22 or 23 /3-1927 with the ship Montcalm (CPR owned), from Liverpool England to Quebec. Canadian Railway Company also did the transportaion once they got to Canada. Ankers parents was Johan Johannesson Ljungren and Helvine Amalie Kolvsen Srensen. stre Toten Countyboard had a meeting 26 Jan 1927. They did give nok. 30.000 to 56 persons (nok. 600 per per. person) that went on the long trip. A letter dated 14 June 1927 from Mr. W. F. YOUNGBLUD give a record of the arrival and that he got his first job at a farm owned by Mr. N. J. OLSEN in Arcola i 1927. A rumor in the family says that he joined the Canadian Forces in WW 2, doing his time at an airfield and returned alive and that he was married and had a family in Canada and four daughters. Can you please help me. This will mean so much for my mother to locate her uncle or his family. Thank you Rob AdornR <AdornR@aol.com>

Hi, folks -- Over the weekend, the machine at RootsWeb which hosts the soc.genealogy.surnames approval robot was moved from one network to another. Ordinarily that would be a good thing (we now have more bandwidth than before), but one side effect was that the new network didn't have access to RootsWeb's news server. To make matters worse, your moderator is in the process of moving to a new house and didn't have time to check up over the weekend! The end result is that everything submitted to soc.genealogy.surnames since last Friday got delayed. I'll be gathering up all of the submissions that got queued and will approve them over the next day or so. Subscribers will get a *lot* of messages while we catch up for the next twenty-four hours -- awfully sorry about that. Regards, Tim Pierce, soc.genealogy.surnames moderator-in-chief SURNAMES-L listowner
COOKE, Joseph Burton; NS,CAN; 1873-1918 I just received in the mail today a copy of the obituary of my grandfather Joseph Burton COOKE. He died 31 December 1918 at the age of 45. The cause of death was TB. The obituary lists a Baptist minister and a Methodist minister as officiating at the funeral services in Port Mouton, Nova Scotia on 2 January 1919. In a document written by Tim McDonald in 1996, it is mentioned that Joseph Burton COOKE was the son of "Caleb COOKE and Annie Tryphosia HUTT". My question is: can any one give me any information, such as birth dates and parents, about Annie Tryphosia HUTT? Thanks for any help and information. "Richard S. Cooke" <cooke@tiac.net>
