CURRAN (1814-1863) came from Leitrim, Ire. to Canada before 1850; I believe his parents were John (1787-1873) and Margaret (1790-1873), and that he had brothers Francis (1818-1892), and Terrence (1816-1898) all of whom emigrated to Canada also. John married in Canada to Clarissa Ann WHETEN (Leitrim 1814-1871); one of their daughters, Phoebe Amelia, is my great grandmother. All these families are buried in or near Richibucto, New Brunswick. A family of SCANDRETTs emigrated to London and area, Ontario Canada, at an unknown date. John SCANDRETT (1828-1892) married Mary FITZGERALD (1829-1905); two of their sons were London merchants; another was a London lawyer; one of their daughters, Emma, married Thomas A. Browne (my husband's grandfather). One grandson John moved to Montreal, but most of the family remained in the London area. Another branch of SCANDRETTs farmed in Middlesex Co, Ontario, their names being Jacob, Benjamin, Isaac, George and Richard. Any information or links much appreciated. John Forbes was an engineer and helped build the first electrical power plant there. The Forbes are related to the Swainsons that live west of Edmonton 20 or so miles (sorry 30 or so kilometers). Can you get us a contact for the Swainson family. There does not seem to be an online telephone directory for Alberta and there are no Swainsons that seem to have an email address in the area that I can find. Ideally I'd like to find someone in the family doing genealogical research. An email address is preferred, but a telephone or snail mail address would be acceptable. There are Gilberts in the Zealand area (near Fredericton) of New Brunswick, Canada. I can give you the names that I know, but I wouldn't have any dates on hand. MILLAR James / GILLIES Isabella Jane; Port Daniel,QC,CAN; 1800- Would appreciate hearing from anyone researching MILLAR family lines in Port Daniel, Quebec area of Canada.Would also be nice to hear about other lines such as YOUNG and GILLIES (perhaps spelled GILLES). The information I have is this: James MILLAR born August 24, 1847 at Port Daniel, Quebec married Isabella Jane GILLIES born September 14, 1850 at the Port Daniel Presbyterian Church on January 27, 1869. James died in Port Daniel June 15, 1925. Isabella died in Port Daniel May 1, 1953. This James MILLAR was the son of James MILLAR born April 15, 1820 in Troon Scotland and Mary Jane YOUNG born 1819 in Antrim Co, Ireland. James and Mary wed on September 12, 1842 in Shigawake, Quebec. James passed away November 2, 1903 in Port Daniel, Quebec and Mary passed away April 6, 1892 in Shigawake, Quebec.
