Her grandfather John Thomas Leighton (Tommy to all who knew him) was born in a village called Middleston nr Bishop Auckland, Co.Durham in Sept 1912. Her Great Grandfather Noah Leighton, is believed to have come from Wales as a boy in the 1890's. Apparently a lot of miners were moved from Wales to work the coal fields in the Durham area.
