WOOD William, Robert, Matthew; ENG; 1800-1900 WOOD Ancestors- England Based on Family hearsay, I have been researching Annie WOOD BESANT to obtain information vitally needed to complete my WOOD Family Tree. I believe the following individuals are related to my WOOD line although I have not yet been able to make the critical direct connection. I'm hopeful that these names will possibly be familiar to someone or that someone may be able to help me obtain the missing information. Finding the siblings of Robert Wright WOOD and/or William Burton Persse WOOD would be of great help. They are reportedly from an elder branch of the WOODs of Tiverton that included Sir Matthew WOOD [q.v.], W. P. WOOD [q.v.], Lord Hatherley [q.v.], Sir Henry Evelyn WOOD [q.v.], and Mrs. O'Shea nee WOOD, later the wife of C. S. PARNELL. Matthew WOOD was Mayor of London and reportedly fought Queen Caroline's battles receiving a baronetcy from the Duke of Kent's daughter. Sir William WOOD and Western WOOD of the Devonshire WOODs are also related to William Burton Persse WOOD and I believe all are related in some way to my g-grandfather Jesse Lee WOOD b. 1839 in MS(?) and d.
