YEATS; ENG; anytime My connection with the Yeats family begins in the Isle of Wight (Hampshire, South coast) in c1797 with the birth of George Yeats, a carpenter; he married a Harriet Rout (I think) in 1817 and they had three children one of whom was George Yeats (b1831). The other two children were Leonard and Harriet. George Yeats (jnr) left the Isle of Wight in the 1850s and married Rebecca Oram in 1859 in Norwood (London). They had five children - John (b 1872 and my grandfather), Louise, Frederick (b1860) , Charles (b 1875) and Rebecca. John married Lousa Huckle in 1909, Charles married Mabel Scriven in 1903. So far as I can tell, the Yeats family stayed in North London (Islington, Hornsey etc) from about 1860 to 1930. Charles had three children - Dorothy (still alive and living near Bath), May (d1990) and Douglas (d 1950). Douglas' descendants are living in South Africa.
