BAILEY; DBY,ENG; 1920 Ivy BAILEY was born in Whitwell, Derbyshire, at Fox Rd in 1920. Her mother's name was Ivy Jane MACGILLIVRAY, her father was John BAILEY, a coal miner, hewer?- what mine would John have worked from? In 1944, Ivy married Eric Thomas PLANT, their address was Malthouse Row, Whitwell. Eric was with HM Forces and Ivy served with the ATS? for 4 years. In 1947 Ivy gave birth to my father-in-law, Eric John Plant. Eric Sr. had been killed only 3 months earlier, and in November, 1948 Ivy died at the Victoria Infirmary, Northwich, Cheshire. Does anyone have any idea why she would have gone all that way to have a simple operation on a prolapsed womb? Is there any way the information on her certificate is wrong? Eric Sr. was taken to Victoria Hospital, Worksop, Nottinghamshire, a much closer location to Whitwell. Any information/suggestions on this family would be greatly appreciated.
